[00:00:19] Speaker B: The camera whispers hold it tight Click, click moments freeze time captured in the. [00:00:27] Speaker A: Breeze the camera light the flash ignite. [00:00:43] Speaker B: Well, well, well. [00:00:44] Speaker C: Welcome back to the Camera Life podcast. This is the random photography show and Camera life and this show is proudly brought to you by Lucky straps. Head to Luckystraps.com now. Do we have any sales going at the moment? [00:00:56] Speaker B: You know, there's always something going on. [00:00:58] Speaker C: Head over there, connect to your craft, all of that. Anyway, it is the 30th of December. This is our final Camera Life podcast show for the for 2025. It's episode 145. And tonight we're going to take a little look at photography lessons we've learned from the past year. And of course, joining me today is the great bill payer of all, Justin Castles. Hey, boss. [00:01:22] Speaker B: Howdy. The boss. Barely, barely. We just looking very. [00:01:27] Speaker C: You're in holiday mode there. I'm in the same old place because you don't pay me enough for holidays. But you, my friend, you have a great time. [00:01:35] Speaker B: Look, I feel like I've got some sort of weird filter on that makes me look like I've been in Miami or something. Look at my skin. I think it's these lights. I'm using the, you know, these little. [00:01:46] Speaker D: Tube lights just to make it work up here. [00:01:49] Speaker B: But yeah, I'm up on the Murray River. My parents, lovely boat. [00:01:54] Speaker D: Very fortunate to have parents that say. [00:01:56] Speaker B: Hey, go stay on the boat, enjoy yourself and look at the. [00:01:59] Speaker C: Is it a houseboat? Is it? [00:02:01] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, it is. It's a house. We're literally, I'm floating right now, levitating above the water. It's amazing. [00:02:08] Speaker C: That's pretty cool. I didn't realize you're actually on the river when you say it. When you, when you said to me during the week, we've spoken a couple of times, you said, oh yeah, I'm staying on the river. I just thought you meant in a caravan park parked up next to the river like you usually do. [00:02:21] Speaker B: But what's kind of the same as. [00:02:22] Speaker D: A caravan park, it's just the caravans float. [00:02:25] Speaker C: Well, you can move it too. [00:02:27] Speaker B: That's right, you can move caravan. So. [00:02:29] Speaker C: Oh yeah, I've heard about that. Never seen it myself. [00:02:34] Speaker B: Yeah, so on the boat. So it's going to be a little bit of a different show tonight. We haven't got the full, you know, I've got the graphics, haven't got as much. I've got sound effects still, you know, we Got. Yeah, we're still good to go on the sound effects. We might be able to take calls. Don't know. Give it a try. [00:02:51] Speaker D: I don't know how much service I've got. We'll see what happens. The phone is connected, though, and sometimes that works. [00:02:58] Speaker B: We are gonna go over 2025, everything that we achieved, all the firsts that this podcast was able to do in 2025, and there's a few of them. But also the important news, if you haven't heard, next week, 5th of January, Monday night, back to regularly scheduled programming. That is when we're going to be looking at everyone's Images for the 2025 photo of the Year competition. The most prestigious photo competition in the world. [00:03:30] Speaker C: In history. [00:03:32] Speaker B: Yeah, could be. Let's see that history. So if you want, if you haven't entered yet, people have been sending in entries. This is not a competition that has thousands of entries. This is a competition that has some entries and they're all from the regulars, the crew and a few new names, which has been really fun. People that. That aren't in the chat, but they listen, you know, on Spotify or whatever, and then they're sending in images. That's really cool. It's been fun to see some of the stories behind them, but I'm not reading all of them because I want to save some for the show so. [00:04:01] Speaker D: I can be a little bit surprised. [00:04:03] Speaker B: But here's how you enter. Send your best photo that you took in 2025. Just want to be taken just one photo and has to be taken in 2025. Your favorite, your best, send it to justinuckystraps.com that's my email address, justinuckystraps.com with the. All the information's in the description of this show, so you can just see it in there and text if you want it. But basically just write photo of the Year competition in the subject line, put your image in there in high res if you can, and tell us the settings you used or anything technical about the photo, but most importantly, why it is your favorite photo of 2025. And we'll be picking two winners. Actually, we'll probably have three winners. We're gonna have. I'll pick a winner. Greg will pick a winner. We'll have a People's Choice Award that'll somehow be picked by the chat. We don't even know. And who knows, we might even have a special guest to pick a winner too. [00:05:02] Speaker D: But we haven't organized a special guest. [00:05:03] Speaker B: So if anyone wants to come on Yell it. And that's about it. [00:05:08] Speaker C: And we've got prizes. Of course, we can buy some prizes. So it's something for everyone. [00:05:12] Speaker B: There'll be prices at a minimum. At a minimum. There will be a Lucky Straps gift voucher to the value of about 250 per person. That wins for the three winners. Who knows, I might be able to. [00:05:26] Speaker D: Wrangle some other stuff too, but I. [00:05:28] Speaker B: Haven'T been able to as yet. [00:05:30] Speaker C: You're going to re gift your Christmas stuff, aren't you? [00:05:32] Speaker B: Yeah, I could. I didn't really get anything. We didn't really do presents this year. [00:05:36] Speaker C: No, we didn't either. [00:05:37] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:05:38] Speaker C: How was your Christmas, by the way? While we're on that topic, before we say hello to everyone, how was your Christmas? [00:05:43] Speaker B: It was great. It was very quiet and very chill and had a good day. Just, just with family in Bendigo. [00:05:49] Speaker D: Didn't have to travel or anything like that. [00:05:51] Speaker B: Very relaxed. How was yours? [00:05:53] Speaker C: Yeah, no, it wasn't too bad. We had. Obviously, you know, we're a big family here. We're a family of eight, so we had my parents and my sister come over and a close family friend. So, you know, 12 of us. I put on lunch. I made just like a deli style lunch at home. And we've just finished most of our renovations, so it was nice to actually have people, you know, invite people over and feel a bit proud about what we've achieved. Sasha and I, and yes, like you, we didn't, we didn't really do gifts because we've just spent a buttload of cash on updating the house to stop it from falling over. So, you know, excellent. There's no money for gifts. [00:06:32] Speaker B: Yeah. But there's a beautiful house, a nice couch. I've seen the pictures. It looks awesome. [00:06:36] Speaker C: Yeah, we're pretty happy with it. So. And it's been lovely because we've been. We've obviously had some hot weather and we didn't have an air conditioner for about four years. It broke and we couldn't afford to upgrade it. We've upgraded it. [00:06:46] Speaker D: Oh. [00:06:46] Speaker C: And it's bliss. It's like I've moved into the future. [00:06:53] Speaker B: Living the dream. [00:06:54] Speaker C: Even the dream. But yeah, no, Christmas is good. Christmas was good. It was just a very chill day. Far too much food. [00:07:02] Speaker B: Well, that's kind of Christmas, isn't it? That's just what you do. [00:07:04] Speaker C: It is a bit. And I don't know about you, I don't know if anyone else experienced this, but the amount of Cadbury favorite boxes I've seen This Christmas pass between people exchange hands. Feels like everyone was just giving out Cadbury chocolates. [00:07:17] Speaker B: Didn't see any. Did not see any. [00:07:20] Speaker C: Whatever. [00:07:20] Speaker B: So. [00:07:20] Speaker C: Yeah, that's because you threw them all out before you saw them. [00:07:23] Speaker B: She is. Look, she's not. Yeah, she's a little bit. She protects our health. No, that's the guardian of our health. [00:07:32] Speaker C: I know, but, you know, I mean, I've seen you. You're a bit of a sugar fiend. I saw, you know, what you did to that donut. Well, sorry, let me clarify, then. [00:07:43] Speaker B: You ate it. I'm more of a butter fiend than a sugar fiend. [00:07:46] Speaker D: It was. [00:07:46] Speaker B: It's actually the butter. Like, I don't have a lot of sugar, but butter. [00:07:49] Speaker D: Yeah, that. That's my weakness. That's delicious. [00:07:54] Speaker B: Okay. [00:07:55] Speaker C: All right. Should we get on to photography? [00:07:57] Speaker B: Yeah, well, before we do that, should we just see who's in the chat? Because it's been crazy. We had. Now, who is this? Because I can't tell. And all the names have been changed around by YouTube, so your names are now your handles. [00:08:08] Speaker D: And I don't know who some of. [00:08:10] Speaker B: You are anymore, but Fermi 8809 was here four hours before we started. That's pretty cool. [00:08:17] Speaker C: That's dedication. [00:08:18] Speaker B: Yep. A new member. My. My good, good friend, Mr. Daniel McMahon became a YouTube member today when he saw the podcast was happening because he's literally on the boat next to us. [00:08:32] Speaker C: That's pretty cool. [00:08:33] Speaker B: We're neighbors. We're both neighbors. [00:08:35] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:08:36] Speaker B: So thanks. Dan Fermi was also the first, like, so that's cool. Dennis, unfortunately, his bloody committed to a movie night. Got to leave at 7:05, so getting a mega fix. 20 wild. Yeah, that was a. Our thumbnail for tonight's show was a. [00:08:52] Speaker D: Nod to Dennis, that's for sure. [00:08:55] Speaker B: 2025 was wild. All right, mate. Love this place. What a crew. See you on the 5th. That's right, the 5th. When we are doing our big reveal of everyone's 2025 photos of the year. I can't wait. Have you picked yours yet, Greg? Your photo? [00:09:09] Speaker C: No, I haven't picked a photo. I added some photos in tonight because we're going to talk about what we've learned from the past year, but I haven't picked a favorite. I find that very challenging and confronting, to be honest. What about you? Have you got any? Got any contenders? [00:09:26] Speaker B: I'm struggling. I'm struggling. It is hard. I set a hard challenge, and I realized after I tried to find my photo of the year, what I've done to everybody. And so I'm sorry, but I thought it was a good. I think it's a good way to look back on it. And there's no right or wrong answer on what your best photo over the years. It's what you think is, you know, what you enjoy. What has a special meaning, a why behind the image and why it was special for you. That's all it is. [00:09:48] Speaker C: Yep. [00:09:51] Speaker B: Did I mention that we're not tonight. I can't remember if I mentioned, I think that we didn't get many sent in anyway. [00:09:57] Speaker D: But I know our good friend David. [00:10:00] Speaker B: Mascara from San Francisco sent in some images for this week's show. David, unfortunately, because of the way I've got this set up, we're not doing a your images segment on tonight's show. So we'll hold them off for the. [00:10:14] Speaker D: Next show after the fifth, whenever that is. [00:10:16] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:10:16] Speaker D: And then we'll get the. Your images segment started back up again. [00:10:20] Speaker B: Okay. Who else is here? Rick Nelson. Happy New Year's Eve. Eve. Happy Eve to New Year's Eve. Yeah. It's the 30th. Is it? [00:10:28] Speaker C: It is, yeah. [00:10:30] Speaker B: Crazy tin type man. Good evening, Mark. Blue hoofed blowtorch. I got it right last time. Why, hello. Good to see you. Rick Nelson's home from work, ready for the show. He works hard. [00:10:45] Speaker C: Who is that you skipped over? [00:10:47] Speaker B: Felicity Johnson is here. David Leporardi is here. Lisa Leach, John Pickett. Lucinda is here. What's up? Philip Johnson. What in the AI background is this? Justin, It's. [00:11:02] Speaker C: It's really. [00:11:03] Speaker B: You're going to see it slowly get darker, like the sun's setting. It's gonna get darker. [00:11:09] Speaker D: By the time the show ends, it's gonna be black. [00:11:11] Speaker C: Is that a balcony next year? [00:11:14] Speaker B: No, that's. That's the stairs to downstairs. I can't quite. I could zoom it out just a little bit. [00:11:20] Speaker C: It's all right. [00:11:21] Speaker B: Anyway. [00:11:22] Speaker D: But yeah, it's just the stairs. And then these are just windows. And this is the table. [00:11:26] Speaker B: I took a photo of it and posted it earlier. You can probably see it in that. [00:11:29] Speaker D: I don't follow you on socials, on the stories. [00:11:32] Speaker B: Elena says. Good evening, everyone, from Yelena and Vaughan of Vaughan. Are you listening? Do you want to come up now and quickly address the world? He's never been on a live stream before. And he's been watching, you know, the gamers that stream. Stream is. Oh, yeah, he's been watching those today. And I'm like, that's basically mean, Greg. [00:11:52] Speaker C: Except for no editor that's what. That's how I got into this. [00:11:55] Speaker B: Come, come, come, come, Come and say hello to the world. All right, Come around here. Sit in this chair. You get 60 seconds. [00:12:08] Speaker D: 60? [00:12:08] Speaker A: Only. [00:12:09] Speaker B: Only 60. Say hello to Greg. [00:12:11] Speaker A: Hello. [00:12:12] Speaker C: Hey, Vaughn. How are you? [00:12:14] Speaker D: Good. [00:12:14] Speaker C: Look, you can have more than 60 seconds. At the moment. Justin can't hear us. [00:12:25] Speaker D: Greg likes. [00:12:30] Speaker B: Say hi to the chat. Say hello. [00:12:32] Speaker D: Hello. [00:12:34] Speaker A: This is a good theme. [00:12:36] Speaker B: Oh, is it still fun? [00:12:38] Speaker A: Yes, it is. [00:12:39] Speaker B: Okay. [00:12:42] Speaker C: Hey, buddy. How are you? Hey, Uncle Justin tells me that you've been playing a lot of Switch on holidays. Now you're telling me. Just one more minute. You tell him. One more minute. [00:12:52] Speaker A: One more minute. [00:12:54] Speaker C: Greg said. Greg said. What's your favorite Switch game? [00:13:00] Speaker B: Oh, hang on. [00:13:04] Speaker A: I like playing Cars Driven to Win because I'm like, first. The best at that game. Yeah. [00:13:15] Speaker C: Greg. [00:13:17] Speaker A: Greg is there. You're frozen. Your mouth's open, too. [00:13:20] Speaker D: Okay, hang on. [00:13:21] Speaker A: Greg, you dead. [00:13:22] Speaker D: Greg. [00:13:23] Speaker A: Greg, you dead. [00:13:24] Speaker B: Greg, get out of there. Fix the stream. [00:13:27] Speaker C: Greg. Hey. [00:13:30] Speaker B: Sorry, everybody. Greg's frozen. [00:13:32] Speaker D: I don't know if you're all still. [00:13:32] Speaker B: Here with me, but I'm here. Greg's gone. [00:13:35] Speaker A: I'm here, too. [00:13:38] Speaker B: Greg's frozen. He's dropped out. It went exactly as I thought it would. [00:13:42] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:13:43] Speaker B: Chaos. What are the. What are the chances that Greg would drop out while I had Vaughn, my nephew, just banning the show? [00:13:54] Speaker D: All right, well. [00:13:56] Speaker B: Absolute cinema. Yeah. That's possibly the worst that that could have gone. And what more could you expect? But anyway, we'll see if Greg can somehow reset his connection. Get back in here. Anyway, that's my. That's fine if you've won. And he is. He just turned 11, actually, on Christmas Day. Craig, you back? [00:14:17] Speaker D: What happened? [00:14:19] Speaker C: I don't know. Well, that. Everything went black. [00:14:23] Speaker B: Yeah, you froze mid. Mid sentence. And so then it ended up being just. Just Vaughan on the stream, solo podcasting. [00:14:33] Speaker C: What a legend. [00:14:34] Speaker B: Yeah, this is a fair. Ian Thompson's a fair. He's like, hey, Justin, you invited him in. You're working with kids. Yeah, this is. I probably should have said, no, no. But anyway, that's fine. [00:14:45] Speaker C: No harm. [00:14:46] Speaker B: One day he can have his own gamer stream or something. [00:14:49] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:14:50] Speaker B: All right, where was I in the comments? Because I'm pretty sure someone said my leg was blinding them. [00:14:54] Speaker C: Yeah, Greg Carrick said that you should put that away before you. [00:14:57] Speaker B: They're pretty white. [00:14:59] Speaker C: That takes someone. [00:15:01] Speaker B: Oh, dear. Okay, let's get back to where we are. Yes, I am up at the Murray. Felicity. I'm at Trumbree, right near Torunbury. It's a great spot. And who else was here? So Ian Thompson is here and Greg Carrick is here. Apparently I need Fuji colors. Bruce Moyle. Evening, guys. Just heading back from a shoot, listening in the car. Good to see you. [00:15:23] Speaker C: Drive safe, mate. Good to see you. [00:15:24] Speaker B: Drive safe. Yeah, great Carrick finding with that leg. Tony. Tony was actually up here two days ago. Come for a visit, he says. Oy, castles. Get out of my spot. [00:15:36] Speaker D: Sorry about that. [00:15:39] Speaker B: Rear view photography. [00:15:40] Speaker D: Levin. [00:15:40] Speaker B: G', day, guys. Able to join everyone for the 2025 final. Hooray. If you're still in the chat, Levin, tell us something that happened for you in 2025. What'd you learn? What was good? What do you look back on and think it was a good year? Actually. Anyone that's in the chat, throw some stuff in there, get the ball rolling. [00:16:01] Speaker C: There's a question here, and I don't know if this is. Is this someone you know? You said earlier, Daniel McMahon. Yeah. [00:16:08] Speaker B: Is he. [00:16:09] Speaker C: Is he. Is he taking the piss or is he wanting to know for real? [00:16:12] Speaker B: I don't even know. So this is a. So I can't really tell this story. This is Dan's story to tell. But long story short, he had a cat. Its name was Cat and, well, so much love already. He really liked cat. But he used to complain a lot about how the cat dropped a lot. [00:16:31] Speaker D: Of hair on everything. It was a white cat, so all. [00:16:34] Speaker B: The chairs, everything, just white hair everywhere. All his clothes always complained about it. And his son was living in Melbourne. His son moved back to Bendigo temporarily while he was getting a different house. And Dan got home one day and Cat was gone. And where was Cat? He asked his son. He said, yeah. He kept saying, you were really annoyed with it. So I gave it to someone who was looking for a cat. [00:17:04] Speaker C: It's a true story. [00:17:05] Speaker B: It is a true story. Dan's cat's gone. It's not gone gone, but it's living somewhere else at the moment. So the fact that he wants cat to take photos of a cat. He doesn't have one currently, but Greg could give you tips. Dan. Greg's a cat photography master. How many you got? [00:17:23] Speaker C: Five. [00:17:24] Speaker D: Yeah? [00:17:25] Speaker C: Yep. Post food. Pre. Post food, sleep. So there's a window there of opportunity between breakfast and the first nap of the day. That's when you got to get in. [00:17:39] Speaker B: That's when you take your photos. [00:17:40] Speaker C: That's when you get your photos. [00:17:41] Speaker B: When they're sleepy but not asleep. [00:17:43] Speaker C: Not quite. Yeah. Yep. Y. [00:17:47] Speaker B: Apparently Vaughn's taking control of Yelena's phone. Writing comments back now. [00:17:55] Speaker C: Oh, my buddy. [00:17:56] Speaker B: Oh, dear. We've. [00:17:57] Speaker D: We've awakened the beast. [00:17:59] Speaker B: The live streaming beast. [00:18:01] Speaker C: Yeah. All right. [00:18:03] Speaker B: Oh, Nathan. What's up, Cabbie? Favorites box currently sitting on the bench with the not so favorites left over. Yeah, actually that's a good question. Like who. What do you leave? What's everyone hate? I. Turkish delight should be banned. [00:18:14] Speaker C: Ye too. Yeah. I don't even know why they still make them, to be honest. I think Lucinda someone said what they. [00:18:23] Speaker B: Ah. [00:18:23] Speaker C: What is the favorite in the favorites box? That is my question. Yeah. Cherry ripen picnics for Lisa Leach. She doesn't like them. I. I like a picnic. I'm a bit old school like that. [00:18:33] Speaker B: Yeah, I'm not much of a. [00:18:35] Speaker D: No. [00:18:35] Speaker B: If. What's in the favorites? I can't even remember. Yeah, Cherry ripe. [00:18:38] Speaker C: Different ones now. [00:18:39] Speaker B: Oh, is there they change. [00:18:41] Speaker C: Yeah, there's like. There's like party favorites and then there's classic favorites and then there's these weird creation favorites that have these. [00:18:48] Speaker B: Yeah, I know exactly who this is. Stepho195. That's Joel, good friend. He says hi, Justin. First. I'm listening to a long time fan. He was actually up here. He was up here today helping us fix some stuff on the boat and dropping some things off to Dan. [00:19:06] Speaker C: Oh, nice. [00:19:08] Speaker B: Yeah, I think I like flakes. [00:19:11] Speaker C: Yeah. Yeah, flakes are good, but they're just chocolate. [00:19:13] Speaker B: But for some reason because there's air inside there. The way they do it, it's better. I don't know. [00:19:19] Speaker C: And is it the twirl which is a flake with a. With a chocolate skin? Yes, that. That is premium. [00:19:25] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:19:26] Speaker C: Because the flakes can be very messy. [00:19:29] Speaker B: That's true. [00:19:30] Speaker C: Especially if it's a little soft. [00:19:32] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:19:32] Speaker B: But I like. You just have to eat the whole thing because they're the little ones. So you just go. [00:19:36] Speaker C: Oh, yeah, straight through it. Yeah, straight in. Yep, whole thing. [00:19:41] Speaker B: Okay, let's see who else is here. Oh, Digi frog. What's up? G', day, boys. [00:19:45] Speaker D: Happy New Year. [00:19:45] Speaker B: Happy New Year to everybody. [00:19:48] Speaker C: David Dare. Parker's in the chat. [00:19:50] Speaker B: Started doing media for drag racing events. [00:19:53] Speaker D: That's a good. [00:19:54] Speaker B: That's a good 20, 25 achievement unlocked. David Dare. Parker's in the chat. [00:19:58] Speaker D: I haven't got there yet and I'm still, still digging out. [00:20:03] Speaker B: Who else. This is Tony's advice for cat photography. [00:20:09] Speaker D: Buy camera, find cat, push big button. [00:20:12] Speaker C: Yeah, that's pretty much what you do. That's all we do. Yeah, we've based a whole podcast around it. [00:20:21] Speaker B: Rick Nelson. I got to photograph my show in 2025. It's like a mini Melbourne show, but my local area. That's cool. So did you. Did you have to do it for a publication or anything? Or you just got free rein? Or was it for the show itself, for their social media? Or was it just a personal project? What? How. Yeah, what was that all about? Turkish Delight. Lucinda? No. Greg? No. Turkish Delight. No. No one likes Turkish Delight. [00:20:50] Speaker C: What is wrong with you people? [00:20:51] Speaker B: They only put them in there just to make the other ones taste better. [00:20:55] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:20:57] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:20:58] Speaker C: I used to love. I used to love going to my nan's and every now and then she'd have, like a box of those Cadbury Roses. Remember Cadbury Roses? They still do them? [00:21:05] Speaker B: Yep. I don't know if they still. [00:21:06] Speaker C: And inside. Inside the lid, there'd be the. The. The description of each one, so. [00:21:13] Speaker B: Okay. Amoros. Do Morrows get sold outside of Cadbury Favorites? Are they an independent time as a bar? Yeah, you can buy a Morrow. [00:21:22] Speaker C: Isn't the Morrow just a Mars but Cadbury? [00:21:25] Speaker B: That's what I was wondering. So do they compete with. Do they compete at all with Mars or. Yeah, what's the deal? [00:21:35] Speaker C: That's. [00:21:36] Speaker B: Yeah, I haven't thought about that, but yeah, Joel says Morrows number one all time and so did Felicity Johnson. Morrows are the best. The Mars are good, but I always thought they were just Mars bars and they don't get sold on their own. [00:21:49] Speaker C: I think they do now. I think. I think they have them in a bar. [00:21:52] Speaker D: Okay. [00:21:54] Speaker B: Yeah, Felicity can confirm they do now. Woolworths. [00:21:57] Speaker C: There you go. Hey, you heard it. [00:22:02] Speaker B: Roses is still a thing and Turkish Delight is the best. Ian Thompson says just save. Save them, Justin. I'll collect the next time video. Look, we don't. We don't. We don't have them to save. We don't really get them. [00:22:16] Speaker D: We don't. [00:22:16] Speaker C: You can come to my place and take them on. [00:22:18] Speaker B: No one gives us. Yeah, but there'll be plenty around because no one else likes them except for. [00:22:24] Speaker D: You widows in the chat. [00:22:25] Speaker C: Whatever. Should we talk about some photography? [00:22:28] Speaker B: Probably. Yeah, probably. [00:22:30] Speaker C: Let's do that. Where do you want to go first? Do you want to just ditch the reg session? The reg. Jesus, Greg. Do you want to just ditch the regular segments and let's just talk about 2025? Yeah, yeah, let's just have a chat. [00:22:44] Speaker B: Yeah, let's just have a chat. Unless anyone, if anyone's got any suggestions, throw them in the chat. But otherwise, if anything popped up this week, tell Us. But otherwise we'll just talk. Let's just talk 20, 25. All right, where do we start? January? [00:23:01] Speaker C: Well, on the first. [00:23:04] Speaker B: Well, let's. So seriously, I was actually just going through before. Before the show. Our first show in 2025 was on January 9th and it was episode 44, titled New Year, New Gear. [00:23:21] Speaker D: Oh. So. [00:23:27] Speaker B: It started off the year. We had a bit of a break between December 19 and January 9 this year, no break. [00:23:33] Speaker C: Well, we weren't doing random photography back then. [00:23:36] Speaker B: No. This is. This is what's crazy. So episode 44. So this year we've done over 100 episodes. [00:23:42] Speaker C: This year I can tell you exactly how many we've done. [00:23:46] Speaker B: Really? [00:23:50] Speaker C: No, I don't. I can't find it now where I put it. No, I lied. I thought I made notes of it. It's gone. No, that's right. You were going to do that. No, I don't know. But yeah, it would be over 100. [00:24:07] Speaker B: It's just over 100. And. And because there's a couple of beef up ones that didn't make it into the camp or whatever, the episodes got all. I'm contemplating dropping the episode numbers. I'm not sure. Once you get over 150, it's like, well, just. [00:24:22] Speaker D: Does it matter? [00:24:24] Speaker B: But need a reference point maybe. [00:24:27] Speaker D: Maybe we need a spreadsheet. [00:24:28] Speaker C: It's a fairly standardized cataloging system that we're using YouTube. [00:24:34] Speaker B: We did over 100 episodes. When did we start the Monday shows. That would have been in. [00:24:41] Speaker C: Where is it? [00:24:44] Speaker B: Episode 50 on February 10th. The random photography show. [00:24:49] Speaker C: So that was our first one. [00:24:51] Speaker B: That was our first one. So it started in Feb. And then that's when things just got busy, busy, busy. Crazy, crazy, crazy. Yeah. So our second show in 2025, that was Nev. Nev Clark. [00:25:06] Speaker C: Yeah, Would have been. Yeah, I remember. Yep. [00:25:09] Speaker B: And then we had Richard Taddy, Ben Lightsworth. Yeah, we started off strong. It was seems like almost a year. [00:25:18] Speaker C: It's crazy that. [00:25:20] Speaker B: Oh, on in February we did the random show with the down south photo boys. We streamed two channels. Really? Did you. Did you see that boat just go past behind me? [00:25:33] Speaker C: No, I can see the wake. [00:25:35] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:25:36] Speaker C: Lisa Leach said. Is that Yelena skiing behind you? [00:25:41] Speaker B: No, it was earlier. Yeah, we were skiing today. But no, no, that wasn't her. So. Yeah, so we did. We did over 100 episodes. [00:25:58] Speaker C: We did. [00:26:00] Speaker B: I don't know if this is accurate, but 125,000 views across the year. [00:26:06] Speaker C: Yep. [00:26:08] Speaker B: Picked up 1300 subscribers. [00:26:11] Speaker C: That's pretty cool. [00:26:12] Speaker B: That's very cool. [00:26:13] Speaker C: That's very cool. Thank you, everyone. Yeah, thanks. We love you for it. [00:26:22] Speaker B: I think. [00:26:22] Speaker C: BFOt, like, I know I'm jumping ahead a bit, but BFOP, you know, those lead up podcasts we did and then the podcast at bfop, that, that made a huge difference to our numbers. It did spike a lot after that. [00:26:39] Speaker B: Yeah, it was a busy time. Met a lot of people, made a. [00:26:43] Speaker D: Lot of new friends. [00:26:44] Speaker B: Yeah, beef up was definitely a busy time, but it was a slow build all year, like, just, just keep on chipping away. And I think, I think that was one of the things that I learned this year from doing this podcast, but also from interviewing everybody, all of the successful photographers that we've had on. Consistency in whatever it is that you're trying to do is the most important thing. You know, it could be. It could be. You know, not every episode of a podcast is going to be the world's best episode with the most views, and not every photo you take is going. [00:27:27] Speaker D: To be the most amazing photo you've ever taken. [00:27:30] Speaker B: But consistency in your practice is what's. [00:27:33] Speaker D: Going to get you to progress long term. And it's just showing up and doing the work as often as you possibly can. [00:27:40] Speaker C: But I think it's more than that too. I think there's a lot to be said about, you know, investing. Investing in what you do, in that, you know, you enjoy it, that you make it interesting, you make it whatever works for you, fun, you know, meaningful, whatever it may be. And I, you know, I reflect on our year and we've never gotten off a podcast and gone, oh, thank, thank God that's over. No, you know, I mean, we've both been tired and, you know, obviously Jim has been with us too, and we've had grunt from time to time. And every now and then we'll go, oh, gosh, I'm buggered. Got to go to bed. But often that's because we've just, we did a podcast the morning before or something, you know, but we've never gotten off the end of it and gone, oh, that was such a slog. Or that guest was hard to get answers out of or like, it's always just been a fun experience and a meaningful experience, I think, because we've got a, you know, we, we've, we meet every couple of months, aside from this stuff, to plan what's coming up in the next few months. You know, we, we put, we don't just show up and turn on the camera and go for it. Like, we put a lot of work into this Stuff we do a lot of planning, we do a lot of thinking and I think that shows. I think people are starting to see. [00:28:56] Speaker B: That more and more. [00:28:58] Speaker C: Not that tonight's episode is indicative of that planning. [00:29:03] Speaker B: Hey, we did a bit of planning for this one. Hey, this is a little casual. This is the middle. You know, it's New Year's Eve Eve. It's between Christmas and New Year. It was just. We could have potentially not done this episode. But I was happy to pack everything up, put in the van and come up here and do a remote podcast. Actually, that's what I wanted to talk about. Some firsts from this year. So first random show, Monday night show. And that kicked off the schedule that we've got now. Digifrog says the Pink Night he secured. [00:29:38] Speaker D: A few followers @bflog. [00:29:43] Speaker B: So first. Yeah, first random show. We hit a thousand followers. [00:29:49] Speaker D: I don't know if that's a first. [00:29:51] Speaker B: Like it's something, it's important. [00:29:53] Speaker C: Milestone. That's good. [00:29:55] Speaker B: We did our first in person podcast at bfop. [00:30:00] Speaker D: We did multiple of them with special guests. [00:30:03] Speaker C: That was pretty cool. [00:30:04] Speaker B: Dennis, Nick Fletcher, our first live studio audience. [00:30:09] Speaker C: Yeah. Paul and then Tim Siamas showed up. [00:30:12] Speaker B: That's right. So that was the first. We had our first live call in show. [00:30:18] Speaker D: Massive disaster and amazing. And then. [00:30:21] Speaker B: And then we had our first pet. Our first international live caller. [00:30:25] Speaker C: Yes. [00:30:25] Speaker B: David Mascara from San Francisco. [00:30:27] Speaker D: That was just recently. [00:30:28] Speaker B: We had our first international guest way. [00:30:32] Speaker D: Back in maybe April. [00:30:35] Speaker B: March or April. Can't remember when that was. [00:30:37] Speaker C: Nick Dragan. Is it true? Yep. Automatic photographer. Yep. [00:30:43] Speaker B: Earlier in the year. What else did we do? [00:30:46] Speaker D: What other firsts were there this year? [00:30:52] Speaker C: Oh, gosh, we've had a few, I think. Well, we had our first guest co host. [00:31:00] Speaker B: Did we? [00:31:01] Speaker C: Oh yeah. [00:31:02] Speaker B: Because I was away, you mean? [00:31:04] Speaker C: No, not when you were in New Zealand. When? Only recently. We've started like we had Dennis, we've had Bruce, we've had Lucinda. [00:31:12] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. But we sort of had. [00:31:13] Speaker D: We've had people pop in before. [00:31:15] Speaker B: Kind of less structured, but that's fine. [00:31:19] Speaker C: You poo poo. My idea now. Let's go with yours. [00:31:22] Speaker B: What about you guys in the chat? Have you guys had any first this year with your photography or anything? [00:31:27] Speaker C: Whatever. [00:31:29] Speaker B: Did you, you know, first time trying a different style of photography, you know, first studio shoot. [00:31:36] Speaker D: Craig Carrick and I haven't been asked again. [00:31:40] Speaker B: You're always on the radio when we do Monday shows. [00:31:44] Speaker C: Yep. [00:31:45] Speaker B: We had the call in show. The call in show. I really think if we can get the ball rolling on the Call in show. More people call. I mean, you could try right now if you want. [00:31:53] Speaker D: Don't be scared. [00:31:55] Speaker B: I think if we can get the ball rolling on the call in show. [00:31:57] Speaker D: I really want to have more. [00:32:00] Speaker B: Photography. [00:32:01] Speaker D: Stories and photography questions coming in from callers from around the world. That would be amazing. [00:32:06] Speaker C: Yeah, that'd be cool. Especially if it's like problem solving stuff and we actually managed to find a solution or an answer or support. I love that stuff. [00:32:17] Speaker B: First time being a guest for a show overseas. Oh, New Zealand photo show. Ah, yeah. Nice. That was a good first, Bruce. Oh, yeah, well done, well done. [00:32:27] Speaker C: Had a bit of travel this year. Brucey, he's been around all over the place. [00:32:34] Speaker B: Yeah, it's, it's been a year. Sometimes you, you look back and you're not quite as. Doesn't feel like you've done as much. [00:32:44] Speaker D: Because you get caught up in the moment. Everything's busy, busy, and you just constantly onto the next thing. [00:32:50] Speaker B: Sometimes it, yeah, it takes a minute. [00:32:52] Speaker D: To look back and realize I've actually done a lot this year. [00:32:55] Speaker C: Yeah. And I think it's worth looking back at, definitely. Because it's worth. Especially when, you know, things are a slog, sometimes it's worth looking back and go, well, actually I achieved things. Yes, it was a slog. And I feel like sometimes, you know, whatever it is that you do to pay the bills, I think it's important to look for the highlights. [00:33:15] Speaker B: Can you hear that ringing? [00:33:17] Speaker C: Yep. [00:33:19] Speaker D: Is this gonna work? [00:33:22] Speaker B: Caller, you're on the air. [00:33:23] Speaker A: Hello, Uncle Jesse. [00:33:27] Speaker D: Can I go back. [00:33:27] Speaker A: On the screen, please? [00:33:30] Speaker B: Hold on. Do you have a question? Caller, do you have a question for the show? [00:33:34] Speaker A: Yes, I do. [00:33:35] Speaker B: What's your question? [00:33:36] Speaker A: Can I come back on, please? [00:33:38] Speaker B: Unfortunately, no. [00:33:42] Speaker A: Sorry, everyone. It's just, it's so sad. I know you guys all must be grieving. I'm not allowed on. [00:33:47] Speaker B: That's all we have time for. Caller, I've opened a door to something. [00:33:53] Speaker C: Yeah, you have, yeah. [00:33:56] Speaker B: Oh, okay. Well, at least we know that. Hey, the phone's working. I didn't think they have service up here. So the phone is working. If you're listening, call in and tell us what you got up to this year. Any firsts? Any big achievements? Or are you starting to think about next year? See another boat, Craig? [00:34:11] Speaker D: Another boat. [00:34:11] Speaker B: Look at it. [00:34:12] Speaker C: Oh, yeah, you are. It is real. Greg Carrick got his first kiss. So you know it's never too late. [00:34:20] Speaker B: David de Parker, first beef up. [00:34:24] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah. [00:34:28] Speaker B: It was pretty big. That's the first time Lucky Straps has done an in person thing and I know that's not the podcast, but that was. Yeah, that's the first time we've done a proper in person setup at a. [00:34:42] Speaker D: Show or something like that. And it was really fun. Really, really, really fun. [00:34:46] Speaker C: It was huge. But with, with that in mind, the podcast did really well at bfop. But also just during the days people would come up and say, I know you from the podcast or I really appreciate the booking podcast you did. It helped us out a lot. You know, we got lots of great feedback about the channel and about what we do and, and people, you know, had special episodes that they remembered. It was really lovely to, to connect that way whilst forcing people to buy camera straps. [00:35:12] Speaker B: Not forcing, inviting. [00:35:14] Speaker C: Oh, oh, I've been doing it all wrong this whole time. [00:35:19] Speaker B: Felicity Johnson says her first this year, first time as a guest on a podcast on the down south photo show. [00:35:25] Speaker D: That's pretty cool. [00:35:27] Speaker B: That is very cool. They're actually doing. They're dropping an episode tomorrow, New Year's Eve. So if you're just chilling out at home tomorrow, there'll be a podcast episode dropping from Down South. [00:35:38] Speaker D: The Down South Boys at maybe. I think it's like 7ish or something they said. I'm not sure. But check out their channel. [00:35:44] Speaker C: Not now. [00:35:45] Speaker B: Subscribe later. [00:35:47] Speaker D: Later. [00:35:47] Speaker C: And hit the, hit the bell with the, with the notify all. Because in that way you get notified in your time zone. The same applies for us as well. [00:35:56] Speaker B: They don't go live though. [00:35:57] Speaker C: No, they don't, but. But it's going to air. [00:36:01] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah, exactly. It'll tell you when it comes out. [00:36:03] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah, yeah. [00:36:05] Speaker B: Tin type man says oh, actually there was some from you up here. [00:36:08] Speaker D: I wanted to. [00:36:11] Speaker B: Where to say 2025 was a wild year. Been talking about setting up a tin type business for ages. Mid year my hips started to play. [00:36:17] Speaker D: Up so I came with the tools. [00:36:20] Speaker B: In building my business to manage it. That gave me time. And then this is very, very similar. Change management. Yep. Great fun to be had. I mean starting a business is. Yeah, that's a huge thing. [00:36:36] Speaker D: It takes a lot of time, especially in the arts. [00:36:40] Speaker B: Especially in tintype in 2025. It's not really, you know, it's not a lot of call for it. It's a genre but very brave. [00:36:49] Speaker D: Yeah, it's amazing. [00:36:53] Speaker B: Lisa Leach. Too many firsts for me is it was her first full year as a photographer. [00:36:58] Speaker D: So basically everything is the first show off. [00:37:02] Speaker C: What about first time rolling a car? Is that still too soon? Lisa? [00:37:05] Speaker B: Oh jeez, I hope you're feeling better Lisa. [00:37:09] Speaker C: I've been checking in on her regularly. [00:37:11] Speaker B: Good. [00:37:12] Speaker C: And she's in good hands. [00:37:14] Speaker B: John Pickett, first mirrorless camera and won all that gear from you guys on the hundredth show. Pretty good highlights for me. [00:37:19] Speaker D: That's awesome. [00:37:20] Speaker C: Yeah, that's cool. That's cool. [00:37:24] Speaker B: Ian Thompson highlight four months in Tasmania. The rest of the year went downhill. [00:37:30] Speaker D: That's not ideal. [00:37:33] Speaker B: Rick Nelson. Greg, you got your first pair of Fuji shoes in 2025 didn't you? [00:37:39] Speaker C: No hiding. I did get my first pair of Fuji shoes. [00:37:44] Speaker B: And Levin says first time I almost destroyed two cameras in two days. [00:37:48] Speaker D: Okay, we're gonna have to get you on to get the story for that. [00:37:50] Speaker B: We didn't hear that story when he. [00:37:51] Speaker D: Come on last time, did we? [00:37:53] Speaker B: Two cameras in two days. [00:37:55] Speaker D: No I didn't remember that. [00:37:57] Speaker C: I don't think so. [00:37:58] Speaker D: Yeah, we need to hear that story. [00:38:01] Speaker B: Colin Caddy, my brother in law, father to Vaughan says wrap it up. [00:38:06] Speaker D: It's beer time. [00:38:07] Speaker C: I was telling you to wrap it up. [00:38:08] Speaker B: Yes. Oh no, it will be a shorter show tonight but we've got, we've got. [00:38:14] Speaker D: A little bit to go yet. We're only just getting started. [00:38:16] Speaker C: Yeah. Oh at least our first time breaking her ribs. But at least the camera gear was fine. Yes it was. That's all that matters. Oh and Nathan, first time curating a photographic group show. [00:38:30] Speaker B: That's cool. Oh look at this. I looked at these. Mark says just got the Kodak Reebok shoes. I looked at these because Greg sent them through and they were on sale and I had them in the cart and then I went you don't need these. [00:38:43] Speaker C: Oh you idiot. [00:38:45] Speaker B: And then so I didn't buy them. I, I did have him in the cart for a second though because they were only like 129 bucks or something. [00:38:56] Speaker C: I think I sent that to Mark because he, he built, he's working on a long project. [00:39:01] Speaker B: Oh yeah, he's. [00:39:02] Speaker C: Which is to be a photography cosplay. Yeah. He's got his special, his special camera vest with his patches and his badges on it. I got him a few Fuji badges. [00:39:12] Speaker B: Because you know, because you know, you know people. [00:39:16] Speaker C: I know a few people. [00:39:19] Speaker B: Lucinda says what Kodak keyring camera did we all get for Christmas? [00:39:23] Speaker C: I didn't get one. [00:39:24] Speaker D: I didn't get one either. [00:39:25] Speaker B: I, I sort of feel like that was probably a missed opportunity that but. [00:39:30] Speaker C: Maybe we'll show it later. But I found a little Instagram post. Would I put it of what's inside one? There's this guy who's doing all these experiments with them. He's putting lenses on them. He's. And where did I put it? No, I've lost it. Anyway, I'll try and find it. But yeah, there's a guy who pulled one apart and like all the little components, the lens, the sensor, everything. It's pretty cool. Yeah. [00:39:57] Speaker B: I saw a thumbnail with one with a lens on it and I was like, is this an. Like a. [00:40:03] Speaker D: Someone's just photoshopped that. [00:40:05] Speaker C: But no, someone's actually doing that. Yeah, I think it's the same guy. He's doing a whole bunch of projects with them, like, you know, testing and all that sort of stuff. So. [00:40:17] Speaker B: Can you hear the extremely loud children downstairs? [00:40:20] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:40:24] Speaker B: Kids. [00:40:25] Speaker D: Yeah, they're loud. Okay. [00:40:27] Speaker B: There's not much I can do about that. [00:40:28] Speaker D: Sorry. [00:40:29] Speaker B: For people who are trying to listen to this on audio, that would be painful. I actually. I need to have a look at some comments from this week too. Are you pulling up that thing or are you. [00:40:41] Speaker C: No, I don't know where I've done with it. Okay. [00:40:44] Speaker B: There was a few comments. I haven't replied to this one yet. [00:40:48] Speaker D: Because I've been up the river, but. [00:40:49] Speaker B: From three days ago at J. Griezman says, Just got the R5 Mark II. [00:40:57] Speaker D: And set it up with electronic shutter. [00:40:59] Speaker B: But it's silent. [00:41:00] Speaker D: In the video, your shutter makes noise. He's commenting on one of my R5 Mark II videos where I was testing autofocus. [00:41:07] Speaker B: In your video, your shutter makes noise. [00:41:09] Speaker D: Which I sometimes like. [00:41:11] Speaker B: I thought it was always silent on electronic shutter. No, they do. And it should be default on. I thought so. It depends if you've put it into. [00:41:19] Speaker D: Like silent mode or like just stand electronic shutter. But in standard electronic shutter, on the Canons you can have a shutter sound. Or on any camera as far as I'm aware, you can have an electronic shutter sound. So you know you've taken a photo. So you just need to make sure that's on. [00:41:34] Speaker B: But if you put it into silent. [00:41:36] Speaker D: Mode, or whatever it's called on Canons, because I never use it, then that will disable the sound. But it's in there under sounds. You'll find. [00:41:47] Speaker B: Was another comment here on the Christmas show with Bruce Moyle, which is fun. Andrew Connor says. What has photography done for me in 2025? Discovering photography in general allows me to truly see nature. It is the everything. [00:42:05] Speaker D: Sometimes the subtle, sometimes the obvious, sometimes the hidden details. [00:42:10] Speaker B: I love fungi. The ability to capture details the eyes. [00:42:15] Speaker D: Simply cannot see is intoxicating. So 2025 has simply continued this I've planned whole holidays now around what can be captured in nature and the calmness this brings, the happiness and the joy simply cannot be replicated. Oh, and yeah, capturing the family moments too are sometimes always special. Happy festive season wishes to you all. What a comment. [00:42:39] Speaker C: That's very cool. Yeah, that's. [00:42:46] Speaker B: And then also Paul said on the same episode, social media offered great potential for connectivity, but over the years it has devolved into a primordial slime of. [00:42:55] Speaker D: Advertising and performative narcissism. [00:42:59] Speaker B: You guys have found a way around this by building a small community of actual humans with live format that draws. [00:43:06] Speaker D: On connection to the real world and is anchored by events such as Beef Op. Hats off. [00:43:12] Speaker C: Wow. [00:43:12] Speaker D: Love it. [00:43:13] Speaker C: That's amazing. [00:43:14] Speaker B: It's very well said about social media too. It's like the, it has the absolute potential to connect people around all sorts. [00:43:22] Speaker D: Of different hobbies and interest anything. [00:43:26] Speaker B: But it's, it's devolved away from that. [00:43:31] Speaker D: The problem is it's really hard to do that. [00:43:33] Speaker C: See, it was meant to be the World Wide Web. It was meant to be the entire information of the world at your fingertips. And you know, and that, that could be a really marvelous, powerful thing. But unfortunately, like, like you said, it's just, it's, it's just diluted and diluted and now you don't know what is real information anymore. [00:43:53] Speaker D: It's going to be way harder now with AI video. Way, way, way harder. [00:43:56] Speaker B: Because video used to be the way. [00:43:58] Speaker D: Where you could be like, unless this. [00:43:59] Speaker B: Is cgi, it's probably real. [00:44:02] Speaker D: Now it's like, it's probably not real. [00:44:05] Speaker C: Yeah, it's hard to tell. Hard to tell. But anyway, it's a great comment. [00:44:09] Speaker B: Great comment, Great comment. What else do we have? Tweak Productions said have a Merry Christmas, Justin, Greg, to all the crazy creatives who listen in and all of your interesting and wonderful guests, thank you very much. Oh, and David Mascara wanted to clarify. I think I read out when he. [00:44:30] Speaker D: Was talking about lighting with his street portrait subjects. I think I read that he moves the subject for good lighting and then talks to them and takes photos while talking to them. But he says he actually, he doesn't move them. He moves to get good lighting on them, you know, so, so he won't move them to a better spot or something like that, but he might like, you know, pivot around and go to the other side or whatever while talking to them if you. There's better light from that angle. So it's a fair point. I think I read it out wrong. [00:45:03] Speaker B: What else is on here? I think that was about it in the last year. Oh, one comment on the should you. [00:45:15] Speaker D: Give your clients raw files in 2025, where we had a nuanced discussion with Matt Crummons in a clip about when you should and shouldn't give your RAW files to clients and why. And at Napping Dragon says, nope, I'm not giving my raws ever. [00:45:36] Speaker B: Okay, well, I mean, that's your. That's your call. But if someone says they'll give you $10,000 for the raws, I take it they're just files. [00:45:45] Speaker C: That's a GFX. [00:45:47] Speaker B: Yeah, they're nothing. They're nothing special, you know. [00:45:54] Speaker D: Anyway, that's just me. [00:45:58] Speaker B: Should we shift. Should we shift gears a little bit to. [00:46:01] Speaker C: Yeah, do you want to shift into. [00:46:04] Speaker B: Well, like, should we shift into the prospect of a new year coming 2020? [00:46:12] Speaker C: I'm not ready for that. [00:46:15] Speaker B: Okay, what are you ready for? [00:46:17] Speaker C: Well, I've got a little. A little list of achievements. [00:46:20] Speaker B: Oh, okay. [00:46:22] Speaker C: That I would like to talk about because I, you know, I think it's worth. Worth sharing this stuff. [00:46:28] Speaker B: Please do. [00:46:32] Speaker C: Big year for me. A lot of things changed. I probably say every year is a big year, but I started off in a really dark place. I didn't have good mental health in the first couple of months of the year and that was carried over from last year. But then that BFOP day happened and we started to do more here at the podcast and I started to get more and more involved with, with what we were doing and a whole bunch of stuff changed for me. You know, all of a sudden my community expanded through that beef up day in the city in Melbourne. That was a crazy day. [00:47:07] Speaker B: That was a crazy day. [00:47:10] Speaker C: But, but I was going through, like, what I'd achieved. I was going through my Lightroom catalog and I've got to fix that because a big chunk of my images aren't finding the original files. But anyway, I hate it when that happens. I don't know why it's happening. It just shits me. But yeah, that beef up day was pretty huge. The beef up day camera house thing, it was madness, but it was meaningful. Matt and Nick put on quite a show, you know, for a handful of hours for a select group of people who were, you know, ticket holders, gotten in for the day and lovely, you know, you and I were invited along to do some behind the scenes stuff and yeah, just help out where we could. And that was really cool. Was it? And it was a precursor to what we did at be weekend, the big weekend in. What was it, October? [00:47:57] Speaker D: Y. [00:47:59] Speaker C: What else? And obviously being there to support the camera house folks. Danny and Nigel celebrate their birthday. 50th or 40th. [00:48:12] Speaker D: Yes. I can't remember now a lot. [00:48:16] Speaker C: I can't either. [00:48:17] Speaker B: It was a lot. [00:48:18] Speaker D: Whatever it was, it was, it was decades of running a business which. [00:48:23] Speaker B: Any business. [00:48:24] Speaker D: That's going to be difficult. [00:48:25] Speaker B: Retail in cameras, in this, in, you. [00:48:29] Speaker D: Know, the 2020s or whatever we're in now. Yeah, like hats off to them. [00:48:35] Speaker C: Yeah, it's pretty cool. It's huge. And it was such a meaningful day because not only were we involved, but then the camera house thing, you know, it felt like we were at sort of an intimate family get together because so many people knew one another. It was all connected back to camera house. It was really lovely. Quite a special day. What else did I do? I started macro photography, which I'm still getting the hang of, but I'm pretty happy with. With where that. Where that's leading, which is good. Just gives me a different outlet to get out with a camera, which is great. I did a bunch of street walks with some small groups, but I also did it with mates new and older. Went on a street walk with Bruce. I caught up with Exy a couple of times and we've been on street walks together. And Craig Witchen, I went on one of his walks for wellbeing, which was really lovely day. And then of course, BFOP 2025, the big weekend. And I hand on heart say this, that was one of the best weekends of my life. Maybe that's indicative of the sad, lonely life I've led leading up to that. But. But no, it was, it was, it was such a special weekend. You know, I got to connect with the people that we hear hear from in the comments. I got to connect with a bunch of them. I made some amazing friends. You and I got to hang out a lot more and get to know each other better. The same with Jim. We worked our asses off. We also had fun. We had a lot of fun. Yeah, it was a cracker. [00:50:02] Speaker D: It was a great weekend. [00:50:04] Speaker C: Like everything. Being involved in the interviews of the beef up instructors and then the pre beef up podcasts and then getting up every morning and. And not knowing who was going to show up at the door to sit in the chair with us and, and talk about beef up. It was, it was pretty exciting and pretty cool. But yeah, the highlight was seeing you in that pink nightie. Never, never forget that. A couple of other little achievements for me, I've written 56 articles for Lucky Straps this year. [00:50:31] Speaker B: Really? [00:50:32] Speaker C: Yep. 56 articles. It's roughly around 70,000 words that I've written. That's, that's borderline thesis. PhD thesis. Level of content. Technically, I've written a thesis. You're welcome. And yeah, I got myself out on the streets a bit more this year doing some street photography, which has always been something that I've loved. And I had a couple of mishaps which I indicated or hinted at in previous episodes. Got confronted by a couple of pretty crappy people. And then I was telling Justin the other day, I witnessed a carjacking live in front of me just around the corner. [00:51:10] Speaker B: So crazy. [00:51:12] Speaker C: Welcome to South Yarra. That got pretty messy pretty quick. But I'm still looking for new ways to approach my street photography craft whilst keeping myself more safe. Streets have changed, the economic climate has changed. There's a lot more people doing it tough. There's a lot more people out there that are affected by drugs, alcohol, mental health situation, abuse, violence, all that sort of stuff. And unfortunately that bleeds into life on the streets. And so I'm looking for new ways to sort of take a step back. And of course the best way to do that is to obviously buy more lenses. [00:51:48] Speaker B: Right? So, yes, yeah, we somehow arrived at zoom lenses from, from the changing streets of Melbourne. [00:52:01] Speaker C: Oh, I don't feel, I don't feel safe. Oh, I need some more glass. [00:52:05] Speaker B: That'll fix it. [00:52:06] Speaker C: That was my math. And I've been testing some lenses. I got the Fujifilm 16 to 80, I borrowed that off Fujifilm Australia to play around with and I've got a 55 to 200, but I still keep gravitating towards that little 27 mil pancake prime with the 35 mil full frame equivalent. So go figure, go figure. But obviously, yeah, huge highlights for me, being able to support the Camera Life podcast. Justin, Jim, Elena. Being a part of that team is, it's a, it's a bloody honor to be a part of this team and, and do what we do because, you know, we say it a lot, but it, we mean it that we love what we do. It's a lot of fun and we love building this community. It's, it's empowering and, you know, if we all help each other out a little bit more than some of those big ticket items that are happening in the world, become a little less hectic and we can focus on our craft and I think that's really important times like this. So, yeah, that's Me. [00:53:03] Speaker B: That's you. [00:53:04] Speaker C: That's me. That's me. You got any highlights you want to share with therapy? [00:53:10] Speaker B: I didn't really prepare much. I, I sort of looked back to start with. I looked back and I was like, oh, obviously bfop's a highlight. That was a huge highlight. It was a giant weekend. So much love and validation for the podcast in person was. [00:53:28] Speaker D: Very inspiring and it just made me go, yeah, doesn't matter what we do. We just have to keep doing shows, keep finding more guests, which Greg does all the hard work of. I write down the odd name on a list and Greg goes out and trolls the Internet and finds their address and shows up on their front door. [00:53:45] Speaker B: And I'm such a sign a contract that they will show up on the podcast. [00:53:49] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:53:50] Speaker B: So. So yeah, the beef up was massive. [00:53:56] Speaker D: And, and that will again as long as they let us go back. I'm sure that will be a highlight of 2026. [00:54:01] Speaker B: But everything else, it's, it's just been kind of a bit of a blur of a year. Like it happened so fast and you. [00:54:11] Speaker D: Know, I got to go on a great trip to New Zealand that was amazing. Did some photography over there. [00:54:16] Speaker B: It was very cool business wise with, with lucky straps. [00:54:20] Speaker D: We, we just did our thing all year. Other than bfop, that was a standout difference. [00:54:25] Speaker B: Oh, that's a race boat. [00:54:29] Speaker D: You know, we just kind of was just heads down and shipping orders and just doing the normal stuff that we do all the time. We didn't, didn't really bring out any new products or anything like that. It was just doing, doing the usual. [00:54:41] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:54:41] Speaker D: Other than befop. [00:54:43] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:54:43] Speaker B: What else we did, we did the beef up podcasts. That was, that was a great challenge. [00:54:50] Speaker D: Like we, we did short little interviews of all the instructors and that's, that's not something I've ever done like, you know, trying to figure that out, coordinate it. Yeah. [00:55:00] Speaker C: And you managed to do it all without actually being here. [00:55:02] Speaker B: So well done you while being in New Zealand. And I think I was only on half the episodes or less. Probably less. So yeah, that, that went really well. [00:55:13] Speaker C: So. [00:55:13] Speaker B: Yeah, I don't know. I suffer from recency bias. I forget things really easily. And unless I go back and figure. [00:55:18] Speaker D: Out a way to troll back through things, I'm only thinking about what happened, you know, very recently. [00:55:24] Speaker B: So it's pretty tough for me to. [00:55:26] Speaker D: Look back and remember. You know, when I look back through the shows, I can remember what happened in January and February and stuff, but otherwise it just disappears out of my Damn head. [00:55:36] Speaker C: But you're playing around with new business ideas at the moment. That's. I am worth celebrating. [00:55:41] Speaker B: Well, that's a first. Do you want to have a look at the ones that I took the other day, please? Some of the photos, I don't know if I'll be able to. [00:55:48] Speaker D: Oh my gosh. [00:55:49] Speaker B: Yeah, we heard that. Slightly quieter please. [00:55:55] Speaker D: Very loud down there. [00:55:59] Speaker B: Sorry, team. So I'll try and share my screen. [00:56:03] Speaker D: But I won't be able to see it. So you'll just have to tell me if it is looking terrible. Am I going to do this? [00:56:10] Speaker B: But I have a new photography idea. [00:56:14] Speaker D: And a new business idea for next year, 2026, which if you follow the podcast, you've heard me talk about it. [00:56:26] Speaker B: But. [00:56:30] Speaker D: Hang on, is that. [00:56:32] Speaker B: Can you see that? No. [00:56:34] Speaker C: Oh, hang on. It's on the spare screen. Do we add it? [00:56:39] Speaker D: Done. [00:56:40] Speaker C: There we go. [00:56:41] Speaker D: Now you can see it. [00:56:43] Speaker B: That's very cool. So did my the first shoot. This is Winnie. This was the first full shoot with studio backdrops like seamless paper rolls. [00:57:00] Speaker D: My new lights that I got the. [00:57:03] Speaker B: Godox AD 600 and a couple of two hundreds and softboxes and stuff. [00:57:07] Speaker D: I got to order a bigger softbox because I'm not happy with the catch. [00:57:10] Speaker B: Lights in some of these photos. And it was really fun. Like shooting tethered for the first time. Seeing the images come straight up on the computer and like assessing them in. [00:57:22] Speaker D: Real time with fine detail is not something, you know, like that's the opposite of how you shoot weddings. You're shooting weddings, you're just like as fast as possible. You know, you're getting the shots but it's close enough is good enough kind of thing. At weddings you're not like moving the light a slight amount or whatever. Like it's. This was a lot more. [00:57:42] Speaker B: But also so on one hand it's like fine tune shoot tethered, trying to get it perfect. [00:57:49] Speaker D: But then you've got this pooch that is just there to play or get padded. You know, like the pooch isn't getting its photo taken. It doesn't know what it's doing. It's just there for a good time. [00:58:00] Speaker B: But like it's so much fun doing the getting fine detail, high res. [00:58:06] Speaker D: That's why I was googling gfx's after this shooting. I was like, oh no, what have I done? [00:58:13] Speaker B: But I'm creating a pathway. I'm really excited to try and find a style for this sort of photography. [00:58:22] Speaker D: That I want to explore in 2026. Yep. [00:58:26] Speaker B: And do this kind of dog portrait style of photography. [00:58:32] Speaker D: And we're playing with, so we're playing with backgrounds and whether they're going to be vibrant or more subtle. [00:58:40] Speaker B: You know, is it. Yeah. What, what do I want to create for people? [00:58:46] Speaker C: So you want, you're looking for a signature style? [00:58:49] Speaker B: Well, it's. Yeah. And that's going to take a while and I'm happy for it to play around, but like, you know, the, like. [00:58:54] Speaker D: The bright yellows and stuff like that. [00:58:57] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:58:58] Speaker B: Or played with some, like some darker black, seamless stuff. [00:59:05] Speaker C: That's cool. [00:59:07] Speaker B: Yeah, it was really fun. [00:59:09] Speaker C: And so whose dog is this? [00:59:12] Speaker B: This is Winnie, which is Kate's dog. Like, all the dogs I'm gonna shoot are friends. So, like, I've got a list of friends. I'm gonna do about 10 shoots all for free with people's dogs. [00:59:28] Speaker D: Hang on, let me just filter these. And then these were some of the more like, like fun ones. [00:59:36] Speaker C: Oh, that color looks amazing. [00:59:39] Speaker B: Yeah, this, like, color seamless paper. [00:59:41] Speaker D: I'm addicted now. I've got five rolls, like a black and a white, and then three colors. And I'm like, I need all the colors, but I don't know where to store them. [00:59:50] Speaker C: That's awesome. Very cool. [00:59:56] Speaker D: So, yeah, basically. [01:00:00] Speaker B: I'm excited to do 10 dogs for friends, all for free. [01:00:04] Speaker D: To figure out what my try and find where I want to take it style wise. [01:00:11] Speaker B: And then officially, like, the business will. [01:00:14] Speaker D: Get launched while I'm doing that, but that's sort of after that is when the official, like, here's how much it'll cost and stuff like that. And I will launch it as a. [01:00:22] Speaker B: Business, but I'm kind of as excited to do the business side of it. [01:00:27] Speaker D: Launch a new brand and all that kind of thing. [01:00:32] Speaker B: As. As much as I am about trying. [01:00:34] Speaker D: To find a style and push myself. [01:00:37] Speaker B: On the photographic side. [01:00:39] Speaker C: Yep. [01:00:40] Speaker B: So which. [01:00:42] Speaker C: Very cool. [01:00:42] Speaker B: Which I haven't done that, that for. [01:00:44] Speaker D: A while and I haven't felt the drive to do it in various photographic styles to like, really lean into something and try and finesse it and find my own thing and make good work doing it. [01:00:59] Speaker C: That's very cool. I'm excited for you. That's good because you've been, you know, you haven't been lost. You've had plenty to do. But I have noticed that, you know, you're kind of like, what am I going to do? What's going to be next? You know, I know that you've been looking for something to catch your eye, so to speak. Something you can Sink your teeth into. And I'm glad. This is great. This is very much up your alley. [01:01:24] Speaker D: Yeah. [01:01:25] Speaker C: You know. [01:01:25] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:01:25] Speaker C: Because you're a dog lover. You've had dogs. [01:01:27] Speaker D: Exactly. I'm a dog person for sure. [01:01:30] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:01:30] Speaker D: Every dog that I see I want to stop and pat it. [01:01:32] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:01:33] Speaker D: Stuff. So, yeah, that's like. [01:01:35] Speaker C: What about cats? You're going to do cats? [01:01:38] Speaker B: Well, as the business name is, as. [01:01:42] Speaker D: We'Ve, I think we talked about the. [01:01:44] Speaker B: Business name is Dog Face. But I will shoot cats if that's what you want. But that's not what I'll be advertising to get because I think I'd like. [01:01:54] Speaker C: To see you try. [01:01:55] Speaker B: Exactly. [01:01:57] Speaker C: They coined that term herding cats for a reason. [01:02:01] Speaker D: Yeah, exactly. Felicity Johnson says I've got a three. [01:02:05] Speaker B: Month old red and white border collie puppy if you need a naughty puppy practice. [01:02:10] Speaker D: Yeah, that could be interesting. [01:02:11] Speaker C: But puppies are cute and Felicity's only around the corner. [01:02:15] Speaker D: Yeah, I might, I might take you up on that. [01:02:17] Speaker B: Lucinda says. [01:02:18] Speaker D: Yeah, I see a rainbow wall in your future. Yeah. [01:02:21] Speaker B: I think if I, I don't know. [01:02:23] Speaker D: Where I'm going to do this yet though. [01:02:24] Speaker B: Like I've got a shed at home. [01:02:26] Speaker D: I can do it in, but it's not really well suited to a higher end. I want, I want it to be a higher end photography service when it does get going and people probably don't want to do that in someone's shed. So I don't know. [01:02:38] Speaker B: I gotta. [01:02:39] Speaker C: Do you have room in the yard to build a. Another shed that's purely a studio? Not really. [01:02:44] Speaker D: No, not really. [01:02:45] Speaker C: So it's a shame. [01:02:47] Speaker B: But. Yeah, that was the first. So that was only a few days ago. [01:02:50] Speaker D: It was a few days before Christmas. [01:02:53] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:02:53] Speaker B: And that was. [01:02:54] Speaker D: Yeah, that was a first. [01:02:55] Speaker B: My first proper shoot for Dog Face Photography. [01:03:02] Speaker C: Nice. Well done. [01:03:03] Speaker B: Yeah. So I'm just happy. I'm happy I got a usable shot out of it. [01:03:07] Speaker D: And there's more than one. So that was a, that was a. [01:03:10] Speaker B: Bonus because it's, it seems easy on, you know, like. Yeah, it shouldn't be too hard. You set the lights up and you do the thing and stuff, but it's trickier than you think to get. [01:03:23] Speaker C: But there's also a different dog, a different connection with the client because, you know, in the past you've taken photos of clients or for clients and you're taking photos of the actual person. So you're interacting with them, you're engaging with them, you're getting to know the story, you're making them laugh, you know like how I talked about seeing what you did with the pajama party at befop, how you engaged everyone and everyone had a great experience, but you've got to do that for the client whilst also keeping the dog engaged and getting great shots. Like, it's a. It's a different mindset for you to what you've done in the past. [01:03:55] Speaker D: Yeah. [01:03:56] Speaker B: And it's fun. So. So, yeah, that's. That's going to be part of my 2026 and. Oh, thanks, Felicity. [01:04:03] Speaker C: Yeah, it's lovely. [01:04:04] Speaker B: You're wonderful. She's wonderful. She is wonderful. And. Yeah. So we're talking about. Is now a good time to talk about goals for 2026? [01:04:17] Speaker C: I think we'll leave it for next week, otherwise we'll go. I think we'll go too long, don't you? Give me a highlight for this year. [01:04:27] Speaker B: Oh, for next year. Well, I was just saying I'm going through the sort of that process at. [01:04:33] Speaker D: The moment, so I don't have my goals and stuff all sorted, but this is the time of year where I think about it a lot and I play around with ideas and stuff. And I think I said to you on the phone the other day, like, the one thing that I think I've locked in that I want to do. [01:04:43] Speaker B: Next year is I want to enter two photography competitions. I've never entered a photography competition before. I want to enter two photography competitions. [01:04:56] Speaker D: And put effort into the submissions and. [01:05:00] Speaker B: I want to enter competitions where you. [01:05:03] Speaker D: Can, like, see the judging happen or, like live streamed or whatever. Like, I want to see the judging process, hopefully. [01:05:10] Speaker B: And the reason I want to do two is because it's easy to do anything once. [01:05:15] Speaker D: So it would be easy to enter a competition and then get kicked in the pants by a terrible score on your photo and then just not do it ever again. But I want to do it a second time after that and try and get better. So that's my plan for 2026, is to enter at least two proper, like, high end. And by high end, I don't mean prestigious, I just mean the judging is all well done. There's tough competition. It's a proper photography competition. [01:05:50] Speaker C: Will you do it through, like, just online or where you go to, like the Bendigo Camera Club and I mean. [01:05:57] Speaker B: I don't know, I'll do some investigating. Probably not. Probably not like a Bendigo Camera Club 1. Although that would be actually that probably. [01:06:06] Speaker D: A good thing to do as well. But no, I was thinking one of the national ones that have, like a panel of judges and things like that. [01:06:15] Speaker B: Whereas I think I might be wrong. [01:06:17] Speaker D: I think a lot of the camera clubs, usually, that's like one person does it at each time and it might be a different one per competition, but it's not usually a panel of judges. I was thinking more those one. Like the way the AIPP used to do it or whatever, where it's like a panel and the image comes up and like, I would even be happy to do one where you have to submit a print. Not. Not a digital file, but a print. [01:06:41] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:06:41] Speaker D: And do it properly. Yeah. Yeah. Bruce Moles says make sure you enter one with feedback, live or done afterwards. Exactly. That's what I want to do. Yeah. One of those. And I'm sure they cost more and stuff like that. And I'm sure the. The photographers that interim are much better. So I'll probably lose. Lose even worse than I would imagine. [01:07:02] Speaker C: It's not about that, is it? [01:07:03] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:07:05] Speaker C: You can't win it everything, can you? Yeah. [01:07:10] Speaker B: Bruce says panels. [01:07:11] Speaker D: Panels are always good. Iris and app are good. Yeah. So maybe I would do those two or something like that. [01:07:17] Speaker B: And then Felicity Johnson says she got Photographer of the Year at Benio Camera Club. [01:07:23] Speaker D: So challenge me. [01:07:26] Speaker C: Wow. I would lose so bad. [01:07:28] Speaker B: Your photos are great, Felicity. I would have no chance. Yeah. I'd have to spend a year out in nature trying to capture better photos. Oh, I'd have no chance of the quip. I mean, it's a great call. What, to beat Felicity. [01:07:43] Speaker C: Well, that too. That's like. That's like, you know, the next tier. But no, I think it's a great challenge. I think it's. It's brave and it's. And it's important, you know, and I think it's. What have you got to lose? You've got nothing to lose. You just. You're looking for feedback. [01:08:00] Speaker D: Yeah. [01:08:01] Speaker C: You know, and when we talk to guests in the past, like, I remember Mika Boynton in her interview saying that because she was remote and she was in the top end, the Kimberley's working as a librarian and a school teacher. She was just entering photo comps because she had no one to bounce her images off to get feedback and how to improve. And so she just entered competition after competition to get that live feedback on her work. So I think that's great and be great if you entered one of your dog photos. [01:08:30] Speaker B: Well, that's what I was wondering about and that's why I probably need. [01:08:32] Speaker D: I need some help from like a mentor or something like that. But yeah, it's like what it would be. [01:08:37] Speaker B: I think it would be fun to do the dog photos because. [01:08:43] Speaker D: I think. [01:08:43] Speaker B: That might help me push to go beyond. I think it would be really easy with those dog photos to just find. [01:08:50] Speaker D: A style that works well enough for a business and just do that and a photo component. Accept that they'll be like, yeah, great job. That's a, that's a nice standard photo that a client will be happy with, but it's not good enough for, yeah, you know, a competition to get beyond that level of just like, well, you've technically executed a nice image, but they look for more than that. So that would potentially be a good way to kind of take the dog photography beyond that sort of standard practice into something that's a little bit more special maybe. [01:09:26] Speaker C: And if you start getting, you know, honorable mentions and prizes, they're good to have a new studio for clients to see. And on your website that you've won awards for your dog photography potentially. [01:09:38] Speaker B: I'm pretty sure, I'm pretty sure every. [01:09:39] Speaker D: Photographer that has lots of awards always says it's never helped me get a client. But they usually then say it would have value in other ways like it, you know, networking or getting better at their craft or all that sort of stuff. [01:09:53] Speaker B: I can't remember. [01:09:54] Speaker D: I'm sure multiple people have said that because we've, you know, they've got these, these great photographers have pages that just endless scrolls of how many competitions they've won or. Yeah, like you say, distinctions and all that stuff. And yeah, I've got zero. [01:10:10] Speaker C: Liz Oakley, Les Okie. Sorry, sorry Liz, just you to talk to Tom Putt about dog face business. So yeah, when we interviewed Tommy talked about how he ran that dog photography studio not far from me in South Melbourne for years, for like 10 years before he sold it. [01:10:26] Speaker B: That is a great idea. [01:10:28] Speaker C: And of course Alex Kearns who's like one of the best pet photographers. [01:10:33] Speaker B: Alex. [01:10:34] Speaker D: Alex. [01:10:34] Speaker B: I've already had a, like a coaching. [01:10:37] Speaker D: Session with Alex and Alex would definitely be a, a major sort of part of helping me, sort of guiding me through because she's already done this for years and she's an expert in the field, she helps other people do it. So certainly Alex is, is on the list of people to, to assist with. [01:10:58] Speaker B: Hopefully growing it into a business. [01:11:01] Speaker C: I can't think of a name BFOP instructor who did. Who also remember set up the pet photography in the back of a horse float. [01:11:09] Speaker B: Oh yeah, gosh, I can't think of a. Names are eluding me tonight. Was it Louise Edgman or was it Louise Edgman. [01:11:17] Speaker C: It was indeed. [01:11:17] Speaker B: Yeah, it was. [01:11:18] Speaker D: Yeah. [01:11:19] Speaker C: Yeah. So you've got some resources there. You can ask questions and I'm sure they'd be more than happy to help. [01:11:25] Speaker B: Bruce says clients like to brag about your awards. Okay, that's. I hadn't thought about it from that angle. Like when they show their friends the photo on the wall and they're like, yeah, this guy won the something something award. You know, like he's a great photographer. [01:11:38] Speaker C: Even just being able to say multi award winning pet photographer kind of steps up. [01:11:44] Speaker B: Then I'd have to win more than one, Craig. [01:11:46] Speaker C: Yeah, well you just win a couple and then you can say multi award. You only need two, Justin, to be a multi award photographer. I can make up an award now and give you one for the post. [01:11:57] Speaker B: Well, next week, if you send your favorite image of 2025 to [email protected] today, you might be able to call yourself an award winning photographer. If either me or Greg happen to like your image because it's purely a subjective competition and we can be swayed. [01:12:18] Speaker D: By your why blurb. Why is this your favorite photo of 2025? [01:12:25] Speaker C: Indeed. Like a story, like an experience. [01:12:27] Speaker D: We do. [01:12:28] Speaker B: What did Bruce. Did Bruce send us an image? [01:12:30] Speaker C: Yeah, there's a picture here. Hang on, I'll bring it up. [01:12:32] Speaker B: Oh, you've got it. Is that what's there? [01:12:33] Speaker C: Yeah. Let me just remove your crappy dog photo from stage and I'll just add my jar. [01:12:40] Speaker B: He's got two of them. [01:12:41] Speaker C: He's got two of them. [01:12:42] Speaker B: He's got two of them. [01:12:44] Speaker D: Well done. [01:12:45] Speaker B: You gonna collect the whole set or. [01:12:47] Speaker D: Is two and done Now I want to get one. [01:12:51] Speaker C: I saw them at JB hi Fi when I was there before Christmas. I should have got them. I reckon they're gone now. I had them on the counter. Like now I need one. I really want one. Thanks. Sending out three. Brucey, he's got three. Actually, he says three. [01:13:10] Speaker B: It's close to all of them. Greg Carrick says all judging is subjective. Don't take it seriously. [01:13:15] Speaker D: Yeah. [01:13:15] Speaker B: And I think that's what's important. But also if you don't take it seriously, then do you get as much out of it as possible? So it's like, I think there's a balance between. You need to take it seriously enough. [01:13:27] Speaker D: In saying that, look, these people might know something that can help me get better. But not taking it so seriously that your soul is crushed by someone's subjective opinion about your image. [01:13:40] Speaker B: Like there's. [01:13:41] Speaker D: There is a balance. There And I want to. I haven't experienced that balance. I want to try and see what it's like. [01:13:46] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:13:48] Speaker D: Yeah. [01:13:51] Speaker B: Oh, JB hi Fi and Benio had 120 cameras in stock a couple of days ago. [01:13:56] Speaker D: Those. [01:13:57] Speaker B: What are they called? The. Apparently there's already a dog photography studio on Bendigo. I didn't think they were doing anything anymore. For the city to be she says has Slash head. [01:14:09] Speaker D: Maybe it's gone now. [01:14:10] Speaker B: I don't know. [01:14:13] Speaker C: Chimera only 4 stars. 3 reviews. Should I do it? Should I bite the bullet? [01:14:21] Speaker B: We're just going to order one now. [01:14:23] Speaker C: Yeah, why wouldn't I? [01:14:24] Speaker B: You think about it while I read this comment from Levin Barrett. Rearview photography comps absolutely help you improve, but you need some guidance along the. [01:14:32] Speaker D: Way at the start so you understand how to improve rather than just wild guessing and crushing defeats. And I think that's what's important. [01:14:39] Speaker B: I need to find one or more people that will help, depending on what. [01:14:45] Speaker D: Genre I'm entering and things like that that can help give me some guidance in preparing the submission and then like, I guess dealing with the feedback or making the most of the feedback and the score and stuff and then getting better for the next comp. [01:15:03] Speaker C: Yeah. Nice. [01:15:06] Speaker B: So, yeah, so that's something I'm going to do next year, but otherwise all the other goals are kind of up. [01:15:11] Speaker D: In the air at the moment. [01:15:12] Speaker B: I'm still figuring out what. What next year's gonna look like. Do you do goal setting? Do you have a process? [01:15:20] Speaker C: I do. It's fairly loose. I've never really enjoyed the whole New Year's resolution side of things because I just didn't. But yeah, I have this year, which. And I've made a little list to talk about in more detail next week when we look at images and talk about the year ahead and that sort of thing. So, yeah, so I. I have sort of made some loose goals around things I want to achieve creatively and for my business as well. Yep. Yeah. Because one of the things not form, not not. [01:15:57] Speaker B: You haven't sort of locked them in. [01:15:58] Speaker D: Yet in terms of like, okay, this is what I'm going after the next year. It's more still just like, is it. [01:16:03] Speaker B: Is it been written down or is it still. [01:16:06] Speaker C: Yeah, no, no, no. I wrote it all down in prep for either next week or the week after. Whenever we talk more detail about goals. So I've given them some thought. I spent some time yesterday and today going through it and thinking about it and what I want to achieve. And yeah, I've Got some, some fairly solid ideas and a couple of loose ones as well. So. Okay, we'll see. [01:16:30] Speaker B: I'm excited. Yeah, we'll probably talk about that on depending on how many submissions we get. [01:16:35] Speaker D: From the competition either next week or the week after. [01:16:38] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah. [01:16:39] Speaker B: And go. And hopefully by then I'll have some, some ideas. And look, if you guys aren't interested in our goals, let us know. We don't have to talk about them on this podcast, but we just thought it might be a fun way if you want to. If you set goals or how you approach a new year or anything like that. If you have any processes, let us know either in the comments or I know, shoot me an email or whatever. I'd love to hear how you guys go about it based with like whether it's with personal photography stuff or your business or anything. Anything that you do. [01:17:11] Speaker C: Yeah, it's interesting to me because. Yeah, because if you share it here, it helps us, it helps everyone else in the chat. People might be struggling for ways to make meaningful goals for their craft. You know, people that have only been like Lisa, who's only been a full time photographer for a year. Not full time, but, you know, a photographer for a year. And she's shown great strides in her work but maybe, you know, might struggle to work out what the next challenge is, what the next chapter is. I'm not saying that is the case for Lisa Leach. I'm just creating example. Sure. You're all over at least though. Lucy, a car would be on your 2025 bucket list. Did you. [01:17:52] Speaker B: Oh yeah. [01:17:53] Speaker C: That's terrible. I'm so. [01:17:55] Speaker B: It sucks. Sucks. [01:17:57] Speaker D: And I'm glad she's made a full. [01:17:59] Speaker B: A full and wonderful recovery. Back to photography. And the camera view is all okay. Lucinda says I found this concept from another podcast today called a CEO Day. I've heard of this. Yes. We work on your business, not in the business, eg, Setting dates for studio days, assessing the previous year, identifying leads. [01:18:20] Speaker D: Seeing where your leads come from. [01:18:21] Speaker B: Lots of things. [01:18:21] Speaker D: I think this is going to be. [01:18:22] Speaker B: How I go about, try to go. [01:18:25] Speaker D: About it for 2026. [01:18:27] Speaker B: It's, it's definitely. [01:18:30] Speaker D: I've heard of that and it's something that I do. [01:18:32] Speaker B: I'll probably talk about how I plan. [01:18:34] Speaker D: On structuring my weeks and stuff this year maybe once. That's something that comes after the goal setting sort of side of things. [01:18:41] Speaker B: But it's a great idea, especially if. [01:18:43] Speaker D: You'Re the sort of person that gets. [01:18:44] Speaker B: Sometimes stuck in the work, work, work side of it. [01:18:48] Speaker D: And sometimes, you know, the way people explain it often like there's a difference between being efficient and effective. [01:18:58] Speaker B: Being efficient is just getting a lot. [01:19:00] Speaker D: Of stuff done, but it might not be the right stuff. Being effective is getting the right stuff done. And, and I think that's where the CEO day, that sort of thing can help you make sure that you're. [01:19:14] Speaker C: You'Re. [01:19:14] Speaker D: You'Re doing the right tasks and instead of just being busy, busy, busy on whatever tasks. So I'll be interested to see how you go about it because you're already kicking goals. So if you become more effective, oh my gosh, what's going to happen? Be a superstar. [01:19:34] Speaker C: Exactly. [01:19:35] Speaker B: Greg Carrick says I'm planning on officially retiring in 2026 so I can do more photo stuff. That is awesome. Means you can come on more podcast. [01:19:46] Speaker C: What is he retiring from though? [01:19:48] Speaker D: That's a great question. [01:19:50] Speaker C: Are you retiring from the radio show? The radio from Yarra Valley fm, Rick. [01:19:57] Speaker B: Nelson says I try to set achievable goals so I can hit them fast. This coming year though, is a big. [01:20:03] Speaker D: Goal, but I can save that for next week. I'm excited to hear it. [01:20:07] Speaker B: You might have to call in Rick. Yeah, maybe we should have a live call in goal show where everyone calls. [01:20:13] Speaker D: In with their goals. [01:20:18] Speaker B: 2026. This is Fermi 8809. I know I would know what your name should be probably and I just. [01:20:25] Speaker D: Can'T figure it out from your, from your. What's that little profile picture thing? [01:20:30] Speaker B: 2026 goal. More solo automotive shoots and bird photography. [01:20:35] Speaker C: Nice. [01:20:36] Speaker B: I like it. [01:20:37] Speaker C: There's two genres you don't often hear in the same sentence. [01:20:40] Speaker B: No, not at all, actually. Probably never. Lisa Leach. I'm keen to hear ideas for challenges and goals. I'm considering small projects to keep momentum. Yeah, I think this is a good topic especially for. [01:20:53] Speaker D: Yeah, for photographers. [01:20:55] Speaker B: Like if you want to be able. [01:20:58] Speaker D: To look back on a year and have made some progress and have set some goals, achieve some milestones, that's, that's usually only something you could really do if you have a, at least an idea of how you're going to go about it. Whereas if you just hope that good, you know, you'll get a chance to take some good photos. The year flies by and you look back and think, oh, I probably didn't take the camera out as much as I hope to. So I think, I think this is a good topic. Small projects I think is a great idea. [01:21:31] Speaker C: Yeah, bite size. [01:21:36] Speaker B: Greg Carricks is retiring from work and some radio. [01:21:40] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:21:41] Speaker D: Well, that's, that's what? [01:21:42] Speaker C: Can't handle late nights or old man. Is that the problem? I think that's what it is. It's the late nights. He's not good at night. [01:21:50] Speaker B: And then Lucy says she wants to. [01:21:53] Speaker D: See everyone's vision boards posted after the goal. Show the witchy Woo woo. [01:21:57] Speaker B: I'm considering a vision board. [01:21:58] Speaker D: I'm actually going to buy a giant calendar. Actually a giant calendar. And I'm going to stick some photos up around the giant calendar. But the giant calendar is going to be the center of my yearly planning this year. Unfortunately, they're extremely expensive. [01:22:15] Speaker C: Yeah. I keep getting this Japanese one. Advertising calendars. Yeah, Huge. Like it's, you know, it's a calendar calendar. I think it's a Japanese brand and they're massive. They're just big paper sheets. Like a. Probably a one. [01:22:34] Speaker B: Okay. [01:22:35] Speaker C: Yeah. Anyway, a one. There you go. [01:22:40] Speaker B: Lisa Leach's first challenge street shoot with Greg. [01:22:43] Speaker D: Hey. [01:22:45] Speaker C: Yeah, why not? Anyone else in Melbourne want to join? Let's go for a walk. [01:22:50] Speaker B: You definitely should organize some street walks. [01:22:53] Speaker C: Yep. [01:22:55] Speaker B: David Leporati says I'm with Greg Carrick. I'm also retiring 2026 and plan to shoot more personal work. [01:23:02] Speaker D: Oh, watch out. [01:23:03] Speaker C: Gosh. As if you're not doing enough photography. [01:23:09] Speaker B: Craig Murphy. I managed to get a silver award this year in the App Awards. Was interesting experience. Getting judged live was hard, but learned from it. [01:23:18] Speaker D: Yeah, that's. I'm worried about that, but I, I, that's what I want to do. [01:23:25] Speaker C: Yep. [01:23:30] Speaker B: Typo had the, had them on sale. [01:23:32] Speaker C: Had what on sale? Oh, the giant calendars. Yeah, they do. [01:23:36] Speaker B: I thought typo cloth, like went broke. [01:23:38] Speaker C: No, they're all, they're owned by the same company that owns like Cotton on and Cotton on kids and a whole bunch of brands. Huge. [01:23:47] Speaker B: Lisa's working on a witchy Woo woo vision board. Use Canva. No, no, I'm doing one. I'm making it. [01:23:54] Speaker D: I'm just gonna make it like on the wall. Not digital. Okay. [01:23:58] Speaker C: Just. [01:23:59] Speaker B: Well, you mean use Canva to make. [01:24:01] Speaker D: My own calendar and then get it printed. [01:24:04] Speaker B: I want a calendar that you can write. [01:24:06] Speaker D: Like a whiteboard finish calendar that I can write and rub off and write. There's one, there's one called the Big ass calendar. It just, it costs a fortune to get a ship from the States, but it's massive because it's called the Big ass calendar. Yeah. I'm getting a lot of print your own. A1, print your own. [01:24:26] Speaker B: I just don't know. Neil says. Gotta love Neil. Leach, I'm not a photographer, but I support Lisa with everything she does and. [01:24:37] Speaker D: Enjoy the community you guys have created. And I can't wait for bflop. [01:24:41] Speaker B: You're a legend. [01:24:42] Speaker C: Thanks, Neil. Thanks for being such a supportive partner, too. [01:24:46] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:24:47] Speaker C: Gold star for you, my friend. [01:24:50] Speaker B: Oh, okay, Bruce, I was looking at this. Bruce says, just an idea. [01:24:53] Speaker D: Can. Can please email you. [01:24:57] Speaker B: Can I please email you voice notes. [01:24:59] Speaker D: To play on the show? Like answering machine playback, but it's just done on people's phones for people not available on the live show. Absolutely. I'm actually working on a website for this podcast. That's one of my other goals for 2026. And it has that functionality where you can just go on the website. You don't even have to email it. You could just go on the website. There's a button that says, leave a voice note for the show, and then we could play it on the show. And I think that's. That's definitely coming. That's definitely coming. But that doesn't mean that you can't call the live number when we're live. [01:25:34] Speaker C: We're just giving you more options. [01:25:35] Speaker B: I gotta justify keeping the SIM card. [01:25:40] Speaker C: Hey, just a little insert there. I just ordered my Kodak Chimera digital key ring camera. [01:25:46] Speaker B: Did you. What color did you get? [01:25:48] Speaker C: Well, it's a blind box, So I know JB. 55 bucks Australian, and I got a. What is it, 32 gig micro SD, because I don't think I've got any. [01:25:59] Speaker B: Oh, okay. [01:26:00] Speaker C: Plus shipping. [01:26:01] Speaker B: Nice. [01:26:01] Speaker C: 82 bucks all up. [01:26:03] Speaker B: 32 gig with that little sensor. Yeah, that's got. You'll be able to take a million photos before that card fills up. [01:26:11] Speaker D: Yeah. [01:26:12] Speaker B: Well, I hope you. I hope you do some street photography with it. [01:26:16] Speaker D: That'd be cool. [01:26:18] Speaker C: Yeah. Yeah, I'll make it. I'll make a little project around it, I think. You know, create a set of images and, like a photo essay kind of thing with it. [01:26:26] Speaker B: Yep. [01:26:27] Speaker D: Do a little review. [01:26:28] Speaker C: Yeah. Yep. [01:26:32] Speaker B: Oh, Levin's in for the street walk, too. [01:26:33] Speaker D: Okay. I guess we got to do it. We're gonna make it happen. [01:26:37] Speaker C: Yeah. And Greg. Greg Carrick has just challenged me to a street sheet with it. Absolutely. [01:26:44] Speaker D: Okay. Okay. [01:26:46] Speaker B: This is gonna be a thing. [01:26:49] Speaker C: Yeah. Now you need to get one, boss, and come down to Melbourne. [01:26:52] Speaker D: All right, I'll get one. [01:26:53] Speaker B: I'll order one. [01:26:53] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah. [01:26:56] Speaker D: All right. [01:26:57] Speaker C: Yeah. Sorry, no camera bags, no big cameras. Just your little Codex Chimera. [01:27:04] Speaker D: And I'll probably have to bring a camera to film it with. I'll bring My OSMO pocket to film it with. [01:27:08] Speaker B: Oh, Jimbo's here. [01:27:10] Speaker D: Sorry I'm late. He's working and resting that leg. [01:27:13] Speaker B: He come up for a visit to. [01:27:15] Speaker D: Come and see us. He did, yeah. Which was very nice. [01:27:18] Speaker C: Cool. Glad. Good to see you in the chat. Mega pickle, he said. [01:27:23] Speaker D: Mega pickle. [01:27:28] Speaker B: Felicity Johnson says this year I started going for my honors and I've been enjoying the process. Also applying for FIAP distinctions via international comps. [01:27:37] Speaker D: I've got nine medals already, so pretty spiffed. [01:27:41] Speaker C: Nice work. [01:27:45] Speaker D: About it. [01:27:45] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:27:45] Speaker B: Kicking goals. Everyone's kicking goals. [01:27:48] Speaker C: Oh, some love for Jim in the chat. [01:27:50] Speaker B: Yeah, we need more gym. [01:27:51] Speaker C: Exactly. And Lisa Leach says hello. [01:27:55] Speaker B: He said he'll be back. He said he'll be back in January. He's just trying to get. Get recovered enough and get through the. The little amount of. The lot of work that he's got to do in very short amount of time. So we'll have him. [01:28:11] Speaker D: We'll have him back. [01:28:16] Speaker B: Justin, are you on a boat? Was late to the show. [01:28:18] Speaker D: Yes. [01:28:19] Speaker B: How can you tell now? [01:28:21] Speaker C: No, it just looks like that. [01:28:24] Speaker B: Yeah. It's been bugging me this whole show before. I set it up in a different spot, but this light is. [01:28:29] Speaker D: I wish it wasn't there, but I. [01:28:31] Speaker B: Don'T think I can get rid of it. [01:28:32] Speaker C: No, that's all right. We're almost done. [01:28:35] Speaker D: Yeah, we're all. Actually, I probably do need to stop in a second because these people need to go to bed. [01:28:43] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:28:43] Speaker D: I can see Vaughan playing the switch right now. [01:28:47] Speaker C: Yep. [01:28:48] Speaker D: I'm. [01:28:48] Speaker B: I'm worried about his neck. He's always like. [01:28:54] Speaker C: Who? [01:28:55] Speaker B: Vaughn. [01:28:56] Speaker C: Oh, Vaughn. [01:28:57] Speaker B: Yeah, Vaughn. He's down there playing the switch. [01:29:00] Speaker D: My nephew, Vaughn. The. If you came late, you missed him. He was on the show earlier. [01:29:07] Speaker B: He's playing the switch, and his head's always, like, forward and down, you know, like this. [01:29:12] Speaker C: Yeah. Now, see, I have to sit back with mine. [01:29:14] Speaker B: Yes. I was telling him to, like, I'm. [01:29:16] Speaker C: Sitting upright with my head supported, and I'm holding it here. [01:29:19] Speaker D: You hold it. Yeah. [01:29:21] Speaker C: Yeah. Like I'm reading a book the proper way. [01:29:23] Speaker D: Yeah. I gotta keep telling him. Okay. Every time I walk past him, I'm like, relax. Just sit back and relax. Like, you don't have to hunch over it and, like, fight it. [01:29:32] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:29:33] Speaker D: Anyway. Oh, this is a good question. [01:29:37] Speaker B: We might have to get Jim on. [01:29:38] Speaker D: To talk about this. What was the outcome of Jim's client wanting the raws? [01:29:42] Speaker B: Oh, there was a whole lot more. [01:29:46] Speaker D: That almost happened with that. But maybe we need to get Jim on to talk about it. [01:29:51] Speaker C: I think that's Jim's story. [01:29:52] Speaker D: Yeah, it was. It was pretty funny. [01:29:55] Speaker C: And he said here, just to everyone. Sorry, chat, fam. When I'm feeling a little better and have my editing done, I'll be on. And we look forward to your return, mate. And Rick Nelson's on his switch. I might start a second podcast. [01:30:08] Speaker B: You. You could potentially have a very large. [01:30:12] Speaker D: Successful podcast if you just lent into the switch thing. [01:30:15] Speaker B: I don't know. It's huge. Like they were watching streamers all day today. [01:30:21] Speaker D: Yep. [01:30:25] Speaker C: It'S a big beers. [01:30:28] Speaker B: All right, well, I probably need to. [01:30:29] Speaker D: Wrap this thing up soon. [01:30:30] Speaker B: So what else do we need to. What else do we need to talk. [01:30:32] Speaker D: About before next week? [01:30:34] Speaker C: I don't think there's really much. I mean, when we, when we decided to go ahead with this segment, we decided just to make it very casual, have a chat. Obviously, we're engaging with you guys, hearing your thoughts about the last year and the year ahead and. And yes, we will organize some sort of a. Well, I think we're going to organize a few things this year. You know, we've also got the Fujifilm. Sorry, next year, I should say we've also got the Fujifilm Creator Summit and we're getting media passes for that. So we'll be there. But yeah, we might look at some other stuff that's coming up in the year that we can maybe get involved with physically in person. And a big part of that will be doing maybe doing some street walks and some meetups and those sorts of things. [01:31:15] Speaker B: So, yeah, we could even do. We could do a macro meet, you know, like. Yeah, we, you know, go somewhere. [01:31:22] Speaker C: The botanical something. [01:31:24] Speaker B: Yeah, yep. And. And see if we can even get some like extra lenses from Lauer or something. [01:31:30] Speaker D: Or I don't know, like. Yeah, yeah, we could have a little macro. [01:31:34] Speaker C: I know, I know. Australia's Lauer person, Adam, he was a beef up. Yeah, we can probably get some lenses. [01:31:42] Speaker B: Yeah. So we could do a street. We could do a macro meet up. [01:31:45] Speaker D: We could do lots of fun stuff. Yeah, yeah, macro, mate. [01:31:49] Speaker B: I think that's kind of fun. It's like a different way because we. [01:31:51] Speaker D: All stay close by, you know, like, it's not. [01:31:53] Speaker B: And, yeah, it's not like. [01:31:57] Speaker D: Or it's not. Ten people walking through Melbourne with cameras trying to get candid, decisive moments as. [01:32:04] Speaker B: A crew stopping traffic. [01:32:05] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:32:08] Speaker B: So that could be fun. [01:32:09] Speaker C: Yep. [01:32:11] Speaker B: Yeah, okay. We'll definitely be doing that. The podcast will just be. [01:32:16] Speaker D: It's going to. [01:32:17] Speaker B: There's going to Be lots of new stuff, hopefully, for the podcast, including a website and that kind of thing. [01:32:22] Speaker D: But the most important thing is we're just going to keep lining up great interviews every week, all year, is the plan. We're not going to stop. No. No missing interviews at all. [01:32:34] Speaker B: As many people as we can get. Keep the interview recommendations coming in. If there's anyone you can think of. [01:32:41] Speaker D: Email me or Greg. Throw it in the comments. [01:32:43] Speaker B: Anybody? [01:32:44] Speaker D: Yeah, just throw it in the comments. That's the easiest way after the show. [01:32:47] Speaker B: So that we can see it. And if there's a photographer that you think we should get on the show, tell us. [01:32:52] Speaker D: And Greg will tackle them. [01:32:54] Speaker C: Yeah, I'll find their weakness, exploit that, and bribe them to come on the show. That's how I get most. That's how I got Justin to give me this job. So. [01:33:04] Speaker B: Wasn't too hard. [01:33:05] Speaker D: Just hassle. [01:33:08] Speaker B: David Leporardi just sent me like a. [01:33:12] Speaker D: Beware of tech neck syndrome. I love it. It's like how to. The posture and stuff and how to. [01:33:19] Speaker B: Every inch that your head is forward. [01:33:21] Speaker D: It gains two kilos of we. [01:33:26] Speaker B: This is. What a legend you can't see. [01:33:28] Speaker C: Clever man. Clever man. [01:33:30] Speaker D: Hey, Vaughan, this. [01:33:33] Speaker C: Yeah, you better. Here's a. Here's a great comment from. From Rareview. [01:33:40] Speaker B: Happy to run Astro. [01:33:42] Speaker D: Yeah. [01:33:45] Speaker C: Justin's houseboat. Yeah, we should do it from the houseboat. I mean, that's a great idea. No light. [01:33:54] Speaker B: Minimal light pollution. It's not impossible. Where we would do it here in terms of, like, for Astro. Like, there's a lot of paddocks and stuff. [01:34:06] Speaker D: There's no light pollution here at all, you know. [01:34:12] Speaker B: Interesting. Let's think about that. Levin, there's something we can do for sure. [01:34:21] Speaker D: An Astro training night. Let's figure it out. [01:34:26] Speaker C: And Dennis can light paint. [01:34:29] Speaker B: Of course he will. Of course he will. Yeah. [01:34:33] Speaker D: Yeah. The only light pollution is this stupid. [01:34:36] Speaker B: Light that I can't get rid of. [01:34:40] Speaker C: I think you'd be better off with a candle for all the good it's doing you. [01:34:45] Speaker D: Yeah, my mobile podcasting set up. Look, it's not bad, but it's. Could be better. [01:34:50] Speaker B: That's all that matters. [01:34:51] Speaker D: My forearm's extremely well lit. [01:34:56] Speaker C: Yep. All right. Should we. Should we move towards closing down? [01:35:01] Speaker B: We should. 2025 for 2025. Yeah. So this is it after this, it'll be next year. Next time. Okay. Apparently we've got. [01:35:10] Speaker D: I'll get my secretary to call his secretary and we'll do lunch. [01:35:14] Speaker B: That sounds great. [01:35:17] Speaker D: All right. [01:35:17] Speaker B: So before we close anything down, though. [01:35:20] Speaker D: If you haven't had time to go through your photos. [01:35:22] Speaker B: Do it soon, before the 4th of January. [01:35:26] Speaker D: Email me your best photo of 2025. [01:35:28] Speaker B: Email it to justinluckystraps.com subject line, Best. [01:35:32] Speaker D: Photo comp, something like that. Make sure I know what it is and tell me your settings and any other technical stuff. If it was like focus stacked or anything like that that you did. [01:35:45] Speaker B: No AI editing allowed, unless it's just. [01:35:47] Speaker D: AI removal stuff or Denoise or something in Lightroom. But don't put them, you know, fake. [01:35:52] Speaker B: Fake photo on there. [01:35:53] Speaker D: We don't want that. [01:35:54] Speaker B: And finally, tell us in a paragraph. [01:35:59] Speaker D: Or two, paragraphs, whatever you feel the need, why it was your favorite photo of 2025. [01:36:06] Speaker C: Yeah, tell us your story. Tell us about your experience. Why was it important to you? [01:36:11] Speaker D: Exactly. [01:36:14] Speaker B: And otherwise, that's pretty much it. [01:36:18] Speaker C: Well, it is. But just before we close, just on behalf of the Camera Life podcast and all of us here at the Camera Life podcast and lucky straps, of course, Justin, myself, Jim Grant, to a much lesser degree, and of course Elena, the true brains of the operation, thank you to everyone for being a part of our 2025. You know, it's interesting when we look back on the year, we've talked about these things we've achieved, but we've achieved them because of guys, and we've achieved them for you guys because we love what we do and we love bringing this live podcast to you twice a week. It, you know, it's, it's the highlight of my week and but we do it for you and so thank you so much for your support, for your encouragement, for being a part of, you know, those of you that show up every week, twice a week sometimes we really appreciate means the world to us that people actually engage in what we think is interesting. Who would have thought? But, yeah, but so sending you all lots of love and best wishes for the new year of 2026. We hope that all of your dreams and goals, whether they be photography related or not, certainly come to come to fruition and that we all have a safe and happy new year. Well, that's it for me. Oh, thanks, boss. I do like words. [01:37:35] Speaker B: You do like words. Very well said. [01:37:38] Speaker D: And yeah, as Greg said, without you guys, this show would be very boring and we would struggle to show up here every week because we'd be worried no one cares that no one listens. [01:37:48] Speaker B: So we know it's just the fact that you rock up and throw some comments in and help us keep the. [01:37:53] Speaker D: Show interesting means the world to us, so. [01:37:56] Speaker C: Certainly does thanks, guys. [01:37:58] Speaker B: Thank you. All right, should we call it? [01:38:02] Speaker C: Let's call it. Let's play some music. We'll say goodbye to some folks. [01:38:06] Speaker D: Yep. [01:38:06] Speaker B: And Happy New Year's Eve Eve, everyone. Jim says, thanks, guys, for a fun 2025. And David Leporati says, good evening. Happy New Year to all. Lisa Leach. Thank you, guys. It's been a blast. Or should I say wild? See you next year. From Lucinda Neil Leach. Have a great New Year's, guys. Felicity Johnson, thank you for bringing us together as a great little community. [01:38:36] Speaker D: So much fun and so much learning. [01:38:38] Speaker B: Liz Okie. Really enjoy your New Year's, everyone. This place has been a great discovery in 2025. Mark, Bluetooth. Blowtorched. Thanks for a great year in quality podcasting. [01:38:49] Speaker D: Thanks, Mark. Thanks for always. [01:38:51] Speaker C: Did you say Bluetooth? [01:38:52] Speaker D: I don't know. [01:38:53] Speaker B: Craig Murphy. I just. [01:38:55] Speaker D: I had it and then it went. [01:38:57] Speaker B: While I don't catch every show, this is an awesome community here. It was also great to meet you. [01:39:01] Speaker D: Both at BEFOP this year. [01:39:02] Speaker B: Thank you, Craig. John Pickett. Cheers, guys, for your efforts. Have a happy New year. Bruce Moyle. [01:39:08] Speaker D: Thanks, everyone. See you in 2026. [01:39:10] Speaker C: Thanks. [01:39:10] Speaker B: Rick Nelson. Thank you for all the shows and laughs. The community is great. [01:39:14] Speaker D: See you in 2026. [01:39:15] Speaker B: Greg Murphy. [01:39:16] Speaker D: See you in 2026. [01:39:17] Speaker B: Another interesting show. [01:39:18] Speaker D: Happy New Year for me and Tim soon. [01:39:20] Speaker B: And good night. [01:39:23] Speaker C: See you guys. Happy New Year. [01:39:24] Speaker B: I'm Paul and Paul Hindo. [01:39:26] Speaker C: Oh, yeah. [01:39:26] Speaker B: See ya. [01:39:27] Speaker D: Happy New Year. [01:39:27] Speaker C: Bye. [01:39:28] Speaker B: Good night. [01:39:28] Speaker C: Bye.
